My 60 and beyond book list

                    Living with more Intention

As I'm now learning to live in my 60's and beyond ,
I put on my vision board that I should read more intentionally.
That I should actually hold a book and write in the margins and highlight places,  food and events I read about.
So my reading list for the year 2019 has begun, along with my goal of reading 50 books this year.
I say I'm going to do this, but I might not, only because I'm a really slow reader and some days I don't pick up a book at all. So, you see I have a big intention for 2019.

28 Days To A More Magnetic Life

This little book looks like something I should
consider.
Now, I like anything that has a count down. Do this for 28 days sound like a challenge I can handle.
I love the daily affirmations and each day can be read within minutes. Easy enough to read, we will see if I can actually put this to work. It sounds marvelous and yes I have it in paperback so I can write in the margins.

I'll  be your blue sky, marina De Los Santos
This book came highly recommended. Again, I will order this in paperback and keep it in my library.
This year I went through my bookcase and took out all the old books I have been holding on to and donated them, so I have a whole shelf to fill up for my 2019 reading list.
Make room for new adventures and interests.
Some of this years books will be novels, cookbooks, self help, and  travel.

Reading has begun for 2019
Enjoy and let me know about books you have read.

Now that I'm entering my 60's, I'm really learning to appreciate all my life experiences, both good and bad,  I would not change anything in my life.  Looking back now I can see that every experience has brought something new to me,  gratitude, friendship, trust, and love.

I've been going through a little book
called.  28 Days To a More Magnetic Life
I figure if I start now I will be ready for 2019.

It's actually my second time going through it. I found it while I was clearly out my bookcase and I have decided to keep it.
I had written so much in the margins it was fun to read what I was going through at that time in my life.
I love the easy flow she writes with and each day it only takes minutes to read through.
The daily affirmations are easy and this time around I have been making little post- it's of the affirmation and sticking it on my mirror each morning.
I was thinking of blogging about this on a daily base, but I think it would have a more positive effect for you if you read it yourself and did the exercise.
So, I'm just going to recommend this book and hope when you are ready you to find it.

28 Days to a more magnetic life
By Sandra Anne Taylor
I like following programs. I like routine. I like rules.
I found this little book at an old used book store. I hope book stores never go out of vogue. I would not even have known that this little book was out there otherwise.
So join me for the next 28 days and lets see if this little book changes our lives.
You are welcome to comment on this journey if you wish.
Yesterday started out with a quick haircut, it was suppose to be a trim but once I started looking through the books, it became a haircut.
I plainly needed a change. So on with the journey,
It's a little short , but I will look great by next month!!
Since I have decided to let my hair grow naturally, living 60 and beyond.

Day 1
Becoming conscious.
Intention.
Today we will be consciously choosing thoughts and behaviors that create more peace and value.
It's a day of looking at yourself in an honest way and asking questions.
Go through your feelings, and ask yourself , What's stopping you from doing the things you daydream about?
My Mom use to say to me, "What's the worst thing that can happen if you do that?" Surprise, the worst thing that can ever happen to you is Death!!, So, if it doesn't cause you to die, or others, then what you try and fail at is not the worst thing that happens to you.
Home grown wisdom.

Day 1 has 5 pages to it. I will not be writing out all the information there.
Today's affirmation for becoming conscious

Every day, I consciously create my reality by choosing the kind of energy and emotions I want to live with.

I do best working from lists. So, for me I put in 3 things that I will intentional think about today.
What's on my list?
1. I will intentionally exercise my knees that hurt from arthritis. Move them or lose them even if it hurts.
2. I will go into my studio and clean and put away my paints and brushes before starting a new painting. I'm the worst at clean up.
3. I will start to plan and organize for health low glycemic meal plan.
There it is , the first day of intentions.
Best of luck, follow along, join in.

I found my 2018 Christmas Book

Jean Hart Artwork
Welcome to my online store
Fine Art for the Finer Things in Life

Christmas In Paris a novel

I have found my Christmas Book.
Each year as December comes around and the snow starts falling, and after I have decorated my house for Christmas, I like to settle down in the afternoons and read by the fire.
Often I will have a hot cup of peppermint cafe or an eggnog.
It has to be two things for me:
l. It has to be hot
2. It has to be festive
Since, this is the year I started to learn French in a classroom. I thought a book about Paris in Christmas would be the perfect book.
I have also started my 50 books for the New Year.
I recently read an article about how the most successful people read 50 books a year.
I don't think I have ever read that much in one year.
This is going to be a big challenge for me.
But, since I'm now retired and my children are no longer living at home I find I have more time to sit and read. This article also said that you really only need 45 min. each day to accomplish this challenge.
If you want to read along with me here is my list.
I think one a week should do it.
1. The Alchemist

Let there be peace this season

Jean Hart Artwork

Let there be peace  by Jean Hart

Good morning.
I painted this Artomat block as the guide for the Christmas season.
She is the first angel of 2018.
My wish for everyone is to continue to show love and compassion to all people.
This little block went out into the world last month with the Artomat box.
If anyone was fortunate enough to have received her I'd love to hear who has her.
I have been reading a wonderful book this week. Even thought it's small by pages it has had a profound impact on me.
It tells the story of how you should believe in your self and have the confidence to live your life of your dreams.
The book is The Alchemist
By Paulo Coelho

Now is the time 60 and beyond

Jean Hart Artwork

Living the life of 60 and beyond!
Join me as I go through the list of 100 ways to age with grace, elegance and flair.
Jean
I had no idea how happy a set of Christmas dinnerware would make me.
On my growing older gracefully list, number 92 says, "Now is the time to use the good china. ".
Absolutely, I have waited all my life to get Christmas dinnerware. And as you can see my age is going up and I should be celebrating whenever I can. The time certainly is now, and so I ordered Christmas dinner set.
Once I got my Christmas dishes I looked at my calendar and
I called my daughter immediately and set a date for Christmas dinner at my home. I made plans for more dinner parties and before long my calendar was full.
Isn't it funny how one thing will spur you on and change your life.
These are my new Christmas dinnerware.

  • If you want a casual, light meal, you would most likely eat at :
  • A. Cafe
  • B .Brasserie

A. Cafe
Bistros traditionally serve slow cooked, long simmered dishes like poulet au pot or boeuf burgeoning, while brasseries do highbrow fast food like oysters and grills. Cafes, on the other hand, are casual, usually with some light fare. A restaurant is likely to be more formal and offer multi course meals

Jean Hart Artwork

Living the life of 60 and beyond!
Join me as I go through the list of 100 ways to age with grace, elegance and flair.

Jean's new hair cut, for the 60's
As I enter the 3rd chapter of my life......60's and beyond I found a list of things to help me go gracefully into the Golden Years.
On the list number 4 it says, "Wear your hair more naturally, both in style and color?  My stylist said for older women shorter is better.
Here, is my new hair cut for the new chapter of my life.
I really don't think it can get any shorter! And I'm learning to love the gray and white color.
While I have to say, I am grieving the lose of my blonde long hair.
I'm sure in time I will get use to this new version of myself.
After all it's only hair and I'm hoping it will grow just a bit more!!

Am I ready to be living in my 60's

Jean Hart Artwork

I have found that if you love life, life will love you back, Arthur Rubinstein

I have had that quote on every vision board I have ever made.
It seems it's time to make a new vision.
Life does not stay still, it just keeps moving forward and I'm now thinking
" Am I ready to be living in my 60's?"
It's already happening and without asking my permission.
Without realizing it my hair turned gray, actually some parts are even white.
Every time I go to the salon my hair gets shorter too.
I think it's time to put a list together about how to grow old gracefully and with ease....I'd like a little elegance too please.

I'm not sure if you can defeat age but I do think you can come to it with grace, and a good sense of humor.
  1. First, and always first at any age is to CELEBRATE EVERYTHING!!  YEAH, IT'S MONDAY.  we made it through the weekend. Break open the champagne.
  2. Get moving. Don't tell me about your aches and pains, better tell me about what you saw on you morning walk.
  3. 3. New Freedoms come with age.....you now have the time to do all those things you had no time for before. Oh, can't remember them. Make a new list and explore new opportunities.
  4. Wear your hair more naturally, ok, I can check this one off the list. From blonde to gray in one quick visit to the salon.
  5. Get more facials so you don't have to have plastic surgery.
That's a start to the new list I'm making to age with grace.
If you want to add something to this list I'd love to hear from you. Leave a comment and share.

Thanksgiving is a time to look at your life and be thankful for all you have.
I hope you are going to be spending this time with family and friends.
Remember, this is the most wonderful time of the year but it can be the most stressful too.
So, be kind to yourself and try to take a little time to relax and meditate.

Souls Aflight

Risk....Risk? Hummm, RISK!!!
Yes, that's what my new paintings feel like to me.
I am now willing to risk breaking out of what was so comfortable for me as an artists. This new intuituve painting style, it feels risky and yet it is so freeing. There is no real way to do it,so there is no mistakes. Although my analitical mind keeps going back to what is balance, color scheme and storyline. So, there you have it, each piece of artwork will always have that for me. I can not break free on some of the lessons I have learned in art education.
But I am willing to loss all restraints and break free of set limitations if not whole rules. These paintings have something of an emotional risk too. They say color provokes emotions and in front of me I have an array of paint,  no less then 30 paint tubes and yet I find mysefl just drawn to the red, yellow, oranges.

"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world."
Anne Frank

Yes!! Indeed, are you looking for ways to improve the world , or maybe your own environment?
For me it starts in Spring. I start looking around the house and want to clean it up.
Go through closets, drawers, the garage.
Here are some ideas that might just help get you started.

1. Clean or replace air filters in your air conditioning unit  at least once a month.
2. Close the vents in the rooms you are not using. This is for heating the house as well as air conditioning.
3. Lower the thermostat on your water heater to 120 degrees.
4. Wrap your water heater in an insulated blanket.
5. Turn off unneeded lights when leaving a room.
6. Set your refrigerator temperature at a level that will maintain freshness without sacrificing energy ( 36 to 38 degrees and your freezer at 0- 5).
7. Clean the lint filter in your dryer after every load.
8. Unplug seldom used appliance.

This is a good start. There's lots of on line help for saving energy and helping the environment.

Hike in Snake Gulch Canyon, AZ petroglyphs

Jean Hart Artwork
www.zazzle.com/jeanhar*

Hello from Snake Gulch Canyon, Az

My husband and I have been on a archaeology petroglyphs tour.
This was about a 6 mile hike round trip from the gate.
It is already getting very hot in the southern deserts.
I invite you to come along and be adventurous.
After seeing many of the early Pueblo Indian sites and seeing the petroglyphs and pictographs I was amazed how connected I felt to this culture.
The pottery and baskets are so intricate and made with beautiful designs, they are truly artists.

We started the hike at the gate, and round trip it was 6 miles to the first alcove where we found these petroglyphs.
I suggest that you bring plenty of water, and shade. It was already well over 80 degrees.
It is amazing to me that these petroglyphs are 800 years old.

Enjoy this amazing artwork.
