May you live all the days being thankful

Jean Hart Artwork
Happy Thanksgiving
Look who came visiting.
He knows he's safe in my yard.
Now there's something to be thankful for.

"May you live all the days of your life." Jonathan Swift
Thanksgiving is a time to look at your life and be thankful for all you have.
I hope you are going to be spending this time with family and friends.
Remember, this is the most wonderful time of the year but it can be the most stressful too.
So, be kind to yourself and try to take a little time to relax and meditate.
Sit comfortably and breathe deeply
Warm wishes for you and yours

Big Question ???
What's the best part of your life right now?

The Creative Life A thru Z ~G is for Graciousness

The Creative Life A thru Z

 Week Eight

Grateful, by Jean Hart

G is for Gracious!!

What does being gracious mean?

According to the Word of the Day, which defines graciousness as :
  • pleasantly kind, benevolent, and courteous.
  • characterized by good taste, comfort, ease, or luxury:
  • gracious suburban living; a gracious home.
  • indulgent or beneficent in a pleasantly condescending way, especially to inferiors.
  • merciful or compassionate:
  • our gracious king
  • Obsolete. fortunate or happy.
I've been watching "The Crown"on Netflix.
While I didn't know much about Queen Elizabeth II,
I feel like I know her much better now. I can't get enough of the HRH and family.
I would say that after watching The Crown, Queen Elizabeth II was certainly the definition of Graciousness.

Writing Journal Activity:
I can not do a week of G's without gratitude, graciousness , and generosity.
I leave this up to you to write in your journals about what you are
grateful for,  gracious, and generous  about.

Outdoor activity:
It is summertime here where I live. On that thought I must get outside while the weather is nice, although a bit too hot. Soon Fall and Winter will be here and I will be under a blanket of snow.

"Earthing"
It's when you walk outside barefoot and make contact with the surface of the Earth. The electrons from the earth penetrates through the soles of your feet generating balance and good health.
I did it all the time as a young girl, but now it not only has a name, but a good reason for doing it.
Grass Walking
Let's get walking on the grass barefoot. The studies show that there are many good reasons for doing this for your health.
I started to do this, and I just thought this is fun, and what a great way to begin the day.
I went outside in the early morning,  and walking barefoot across my grass  I watched the sunrise.

I love technology, and because this is a internet blog I'm just going to refer you to a YouTube video on this subject, it will list all the benefits for walking on the grass barefoot.

I have one more fun Outside Activity.
Giggling
If you haven't been giggling lately you are missing out on the fun!
This activity works best with a few people in a circle, but if you're really self aware you can do this alone.
It's called Laughing Yoga.
You can just start with little giggles and work up to big belly laughing.
This too has great health benefits.

As always have fun with this.
Be Inspire,

The Creative Life A thru Z ~F's Big Question

 Week Seven

F is for Fun

The Big Question?

?
Who or what inspires your creative urges?

Yesterday afternoon I heard thunder, so I knew we were not going to go kayaking.
I put my apron on and started looking through my magazines for something to bake.
I went to Martha Stewart's Living Magazine and found a recipe for
Chocolate Mayonnaise Cupcakes with Chocolate Mayonnaise Frosting.
Martha never lets me down.
She is my inspiration.
In my mothers day it was Julia Child's cooking, and for my daughter it is Rachael Ray.
But for me it's Martha Stewart.

When I started this blog I was looking for ways that I could bring in creative ideas and expressions into my life.
Just putting on the apron alone would have done it, but baking a cake from scratch!!
Well this made me feel accomplished!!
It was well worth the little mess in the kitchen, and to my surprise it really wasn't that hard.
Tell me what inspires you?
Be Inspired,
~jean

The Creative Life A thru Z ~ F is for Fun

The Creative Life A thru Z

 Week Seven

F is for FUN!!
~
Yes, Fun!, Of course it could be for Films, Foreign Languages, Food, Future, or even Five minute vacations.
Let's shift our mind set to fun first.
What is fun?
Some people think fun is reading, being outside,
 or cooking in the kitchen.
It's a very specific activity to you.
What you think is fun someone else may not.
I think anything that makes time go by quickly,
something you are enjoying, you are having fun at.

I like process.
I believe my purpose is creating processes to get to destinations.
In that thinking I like lists.
I find lists help me be proactive, not reactive in my life.
Life is suppose to be enjoyed, fun, and filled with love.
I do activities which help me reach those goals.

Benjamin Franklin said, and I quote,
"By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail."

In the pursuit of fun, wonder, and play.
Let's get started.
Gypsy Women  (~jean)

"I'm see a fun activity coming your way."

Journal Writing Assignment:

The Future is in Your Hands

Relationships, passions, health, prosperity, desires, adventure, lifestyle, spiritual life.

2. Make a paper " Fortune Teller", if you don't remember how to make these from your childhood, here is a video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4SnzwjriGg

3. Decorate your Fortune Teller, place numbers on the outside tabs,
on the inside choices use shapes and colors.
On the hidden inside, write your questions.

4. Play the game. Pick your squares.
Now take a few minutes to sit still and meditate on this question.
After you have meditated write down your thoughts about your future.
Knowing full well that you are planning your future your way.

I know that being in nature helps clear your mind and heal your body,
 sit in nature and meditate.
Two Minutes in Nature.

5. Is there a active step you can take today for your life tomorrow?

Five minute Vacations.
Do you want more adventures in your life? More travel?
I can't always go where my imagination takes me. But, since YouTube is only a few keystrokes away,
I can go all over the world in minutes.
I look up places in the world I would like to visit and watch these videos.
Just watching them transports me to new places.
It really feels like I have taken a five minute vacation and then I'm ready to get back to work.
Let your imagination take you away!!

D is for Donuts N Drama

"Delight in the Little Things."
 Rudyard Kipling

Years ago I found myself teaching in a preschool.
Each morning the children would come in, hang their coats, and sit at the table for breakfast.
One of the best memories I have of one of these many breakfasts the school severed was homemade donuts.
Warm and sugary straight from the kitchen.
I'm not sure if this was teaching any of us about healthy eating or good nutrition, but those donuts were certainly a delight.
You can make these wonderful delights as long as you have biscuit dough handy.
So, that's what I did!
I invite you to make donuts too. Easy recipes are found on the Internet.

Homemade Donuts, Delightful

glaze

shape the donuts

fry the donuts

toss them in the glaze

This was the first batch, since then I have gotten much better shaping the donuts and
I'm working on a maple glaze.

DRAMA, DRAMA, DRAMA
No, I'm not talking about personal drama here.
I'm talking about PLAYS, Drama Theater
Have you ever read a play?
The format is different then reading a book, and interesting how the set is put together, and the actors directions.
I love live theater, if you have a chance to see a play performed on stage, GO!
You can find live plays on YouTube.
That's were I watched Neil Simon's play "Rumors."
The very first play I read when I was in theater was Neil Simon's "Star Spangled Girl".
They made a movie of it too.

This weeks assignment:

1.  Go to the library and pick up a play to read.
2. Check out the plays on YouTube to watch.
3. Go to a live theater and see a play.

Journal Work:
Draw
1. Draw a one line drawing design .
Lay the pencil down on the page and
do not lift it again until you are done with your design.

2. Make your own Logo Design with your initials
Use the whole page and let this logo express who you are. Paint it, color it, glitter it up.

If you need to be still and
breath deeply before creating
Two Minutes in Nature
is a good way to relax.

As always have fun, like and share.
Check back often as I found I'm always adding things to this list as I develop the curriculum.

The Creative Life A thru Z, The big questions

The Creative Life A thru Z

The Big Questions?

Something to think about.......

I Remember, by Jean Hart
Part of living a Creative Life is asking the big questions.
This is the first of many question that I will be asking in this course.

                                 ?
Sometimes really big wonderful things happen in your life.
Big Things, right out of the blue.
Do you know what happens just before something really incredible takes place?

Think about it,

The Creative Life A thru Z week four

 week Four

What's cooking

C is for Cooking
Recently, I had a visit with my brother and his daughter.
She had just graduated from high school and
was on a summer vacation with her dad to visit us,
 and see our grandson.
We were planning our meals for the week,
when the conversation lead to our favorite childhood foods.
We settled on Mom's potatoes salad.
A truly wonderful dish that says summer.
We made our grocery list
 and came home
to prepare the potato salad for the next days barbecue.
Mom never wrote down her recipes, to our frustration,
she just added a little of this and a little of that.
Isn't is funny how we all remember things differently?
Between the both of us we managed to make this family favorite
and come up with a close enough recipe of Mom's potato salad that it inspired family stories.
Memories in the kitchen are a great way to share your life stories with others.

This weeks assignment :
C is for Cooking
1. Sit quietly and remember a time when you were enjoying your favorite childhood food.
2. Look at your weeks menu and see if you can make it this week.
3. Share in the actual cooking with family and friends.
4. Enjoy the meal, and share the history of this favorite childhood food with family and friends.

Journal Work
CIRCLES
Better Together, by artist  Jean Hart

1. In your journal start to draw circles. Circles of all sizes,  fill up the page with circles.
The circles can be touching, inside each other, or separate.
2.Now, with your art supplies, pens, marker, paints.
Fill in the circles with color.
3. Note which colors you used most, or which color is the most pleasing to you.
How are you responding to particularity colors?
Do you have a favorite color?

COLOR Therapy
Color therapy is an interesting subject.
I have read many books on this and studied the color wheel for painting.
I came across this website about the Psychology of Color.
Since, I'm doing a sampling of my curriculum here with you  online,
I thought I would share this website with you here.

Cook Books
Do you have a favorite cookbook?
Reading recipes makes me feel like a chemist.
I'm a very good cook! Why?
Because I follow the recipes.
Break out your favorite cookbook,
or good to a second hand store and find an old time cookbook that's
been very well used.
Here is a cookbook from a restaurant I'm hoping to visit in my travels.

Welcome Back.
Thank you for joining me here for another day of
The creative life.
If you have just found me, subscribe, like, and share.
You wont want to miss any of the activities.

This week I would like you to collect the art materials we will need for many of the projects.
For most of the projects I used colored pens, markers and colored pencils. I also bought watercolor paints and acrylic paints.
You will need a tablet of paper or a medium size journal.
We will use the journal for writing and drawing.
I like to gather all my supplies into a big cloth bag.
This keeps them handy for when I'm traveling or go to the park or coffee shop.
Along with the art supplies you will need a scissors, take, and glue.
I like to create with music on so I bring a cd player too.
I guess you can say that the first assignment is to go to the art supply store.
Walk all around and explore what excites you, what you would like to try that 's new, and what looks fun.

What are the colors that call to you?
What is the size of the journal you will be comfortable working in?
What kind of music will you be listening too?
Now: find a new supply item that you have never used.
What did you find? Tell us in the comments.
I would like to create a global community of creative thinkers here.
Be inspired, be creative, be you,

Jean with her certificate in "Healing With The Arts"

The creative life
A thru Z

Welcome to this new workshop.
I have just received my certificate in
"Healing With The Arts"
from the
University of Florida.
I have put together a curriculum for this class along with positive psychology, happy fulfilled living, life experience, and  many art class, to come up with a creative way to help express ourselves through the arts.
Hi, let me introduce myself.
I live in Northeastern Nevada, where we experience all four seasons of the year.
I love art, cooking, walking, doing 5k's, traveling, and my cat Jax .

I'm a bit of a messy painter,
but I'm learning to keep the paint on the canvas.
I have been an artist for over 15 years.

I've stated to declutter my whole house,
it's better that way.
I can now find what I need when I need it.
I love coffee, baked papaya, and pistachios, I have them in bowls all around my house.
I love to draw on paper cups and make them into prosperity banks.

The snow has melted, it's spring where I live so I can walk everyday.

I have 4 cats, but Jax is the studio cat.
He mostly eats, sleeps, lays around, and hunt birds.

My hair drives me crazy. Sometimes it's short, long, brown or blonde.
All my clothes have spatters of paint on them.
On the next blog we will go over the materials for this workshop.
My name is
