The Creative Life A thru Z ~G is for Graciousness

The Creative Life A thru Z

 Week Eight

Grateful, by Jean Hart

G is for Gracious!!

What does being gracious mean?

According to the Word of the Day, which defines graciousness as :
  • pleasantly kind, benevolent, and courteous.
  • characterized by good taste, comfort, ease, or luxury:
  • gracious suburban living; a gracious home.
  • indulgent or beneficent in a pleasantly condescending way, especially to inferiors.
  • merciful or compassionate:
  • our gracious king
  • Obsolete. fortunate or happy.
I've been watching "The Crown"on Netflix.
While I didn't know much about Queen Elizabeth II,
I feel like I know her much better now. I can't get enough of the HRH and family.
I would say that after watching The Crown, Queen Elizabeth II was certainly the definition of Graciousness.

Writing Journal Activity:
I can not do a week of G's without gratitude, graciousness , and generosity.
I leave this up to you to write in your journals about what you are
grateful for,  gracious, and generous  about.

Outdoor activity:
It is summertime here where I live. On that thought I must get outside while the weather is nice, although a bit too hot. Soon Fall and Winter will be here and I will be under a blanket of snow.

"Earthing"
It's when you walk outside barefoot and make contact with the surface of the Earth. The electrons from the earth penetrates through the soles of your feet generating balance and good health.
I did it all the time as a young girl, but now it not only has a name, but a good reason for doing it.
Grass Walking
Let's get walking on the grass barefoot. The studies show that there are many good reasons for doing this for your health.
I started to do this, and I just thought this is fun, and what a great way to begin the day.
I went outside in the early morning,  and walking barefoot across my grass  I watched the sunrise.

I love technology, and because this is a internet blog I'm just going to refer you to a YouTube video on this subject, it will list all the benefits for walking on the grass barefoot.

I have one more fun Outside Activity.
Giggling
If you haven't been giggling lately you are missing out on the fun!
This activity works best with a few people in a circle, but if you're really self aware you can do this alone.
It's called Laughing Yoga.
You can just start with little giggles and work up to big belly laughing.
This too has great health benefits.

As always have fun with this.

Flamingo or Butterfly?

Jean Hart Artwork

For years I said I was a caterpillar still in my cocoon. Last year I emerged and became a butterfly.
This year I belive I will be a flamingo.
Why?
First, have you seen how beautiful they are. Not only in color but how gracefull they are.
Many of their characteristic I like.
I like how social they are, I like their diet, I like where they live, no snow.
Here are a few things to know about flamingos.
Taken from Alka Sharma, Environmnet.

Even though flamingos are not endangered in the wild, they are very vulnerable. These amazing creatures have suffered a lot in past years. In some places people kill them for their fat, which is thought to be a cure for tuberculosis. They also have intraspecies competition for food resources from other birds such as ducks and coots. We must stay alert and continue to work for their rosy future.
1. There are six different species of flamingos. The Rosy flamingo or Caribbean flamingo is the only type of flamingo that lives naturally in North America. The most widespread type is the Greater flamingo, which is found in Africa and southwestern Asia. Other species are the Chilean flamingo, Andean flamingo, Lesser flamingo and James’s flamingo.
2. There are 19 bones in a flamingo’s long neck. It’s unusual beak and feathers are made of a tough substance called keratin. The beak plays an important role in the flamingo finding food in muddy areas. Did you know that the bend halfway down the flamingo’s leg is actually its ankle?
3. A very interesting fact about flamingos’ beautiful pink feathers is that it is their diet that makes them colored so; it is high in beta carotene and found in foodstuffs such as algae and prawns.
4. Flamingos often rest on one leg in the shallows. This position is very comfortable for the bird, as it greatly reduces the amount of body heat lost to the cool water. Sometimes, they also sit down on land, especially during the hatching period, to keep their eggs warm.
5. Closely related to grebes, flamingos are very social birds. They love to remain in flocks. Their cone-shapednest is made up of mud, shells, grass and pebbles, with a flat top and strong base. After the eggs are hatched, cute little chicks are born. These chicks feed on special red-colored ‘milk’ that is very nutritious. The amazing thing is that both the parents feed their youngsters with this milk-like substance.
Did you know flamingos are fantastic dancers?
