Creative Life A thru Z ~ The dining Room

Creative Life A thru Z

New Kitchen

Creative Life A thru Z
Jean Hart

Good Morning Everyone.
I sure hope you are enjoying the holiday season.
We are pushing hard to finish up the remodel in the kitchen and dining room. But, sadly to say not everything will be done before Christmas.
Each day we move a little further to being done.
This week the buffet showed up and some of the artwork too.
So, with 13 mind blowing steps and four hours later we have a beautiful buffet for the dining room that will hold our china.
The walls have been stripped of wallpaper, painted and furniture moved back in.
We have decided since we live near a small marina we would go with a "Lake Theme" for the house.
Here is the progress so far.

Done painting and moved all the furniture back into the dining room.

New buffet, the perfect size for my china

New Artwork, canoes on the lake

Tin artwork of kayakers at sunset

Kerry's hand thrown pottery.

I hope you are finding creative ways to live and enjoy life.

It's just a rumor I heard

It's just a rumor I heard

Yesterday, today and tomorrow
Life is curved, acrylic, 4' x 4'

Yesterday is only a dream, tucked away in the recess's of your mind. Tomorrow only a vision, a hope and dream. The question for today is "
"What will you do today, while you live and breathe and are alive to make your tomorrows happier, wiser and stronger?
Will you sit and wait for the world, your world to change? Or will you have the courage to take a small step to change yourself for your world or the larger world?

The answer of course is yours alone. But, it reminds me of a quote I remember, "If you always do the same things you have always done, then  you will always get the same answer you have always gotten". It's something like that, and I'm sorry I don't remember who said that or if I'm quoting it correctly, but still it is something that has always stayed with me.
Today, really is the best life you have....it's the present life....the one that you are reaping the benefits of yesterdays decisions and planning for  the future. All things rely I what you do NOW, TODAY.
Heart's Desires, acrylic 4' x 4' Jean Hart Artwork
Heart's desires, they come from within, from without. Idea's are acted upon and plans are made.
Opportunities!!!
Do they really only come knocking on your door once?

I THINK NOT!!!!
I think that's just a rumor.....for the people who don't meet their dreams half way...

~W is for wonderful people in your life.

week twenty-three

I Remember , by Jean Hart

"...Begin with life where you find it and make it better." Carter G. Woodson

There's a lot of talk going around about how to do self-love.
It's true if you don't take care to take care of yourself you will eventually get drained, burned out, and possibly sick.
I have found that sometimes I need to take a day off and just relax and catch up.
On those days I have to unplug from all technology, even the TV for a time.
I start simply by sitting still and letting my mind tell me all the things it's thinking about.
I love to make lists, and this is when I make the most impossible lists of just everything I want to accomplish.  I call this active meditation.

Art Journal: Light of Possibilities
Get out your art journal, find a peaceful place to sit and, have something to drink that comforts you, light a candle or dim the lights.  We are going to meditate.
1. Draw a circle in the middle of your page, then from that circle create lines to the outer edges, creating a sun and sunrays.
2. Color the page with all colors of the rainbow. Color pencil works best for this project.
3. Now it's time to sit. Set your timer for 20 mins. Sip your drink and just let your mind wonder, daydream and think of all the possibilities of the things you want to accomplish.
4. For every idea you come up with, write it in the sunray, leave the next sunray empty. Going to the next thought, write it down. Moving across the page until every other sunray is filled in.
5. After you have filled in the sunrays with ideas, fill in the next line of sunrays with an activity of how to start making this idea a reality.
If any of those ideas sound like something you really want to pursue than start putting the goal and activity on your calendar.

Witting Journal: I am letting the Star Shine
What does Lifestyle mean to you?
After having some time to think about how you want your life to look, feel, and represent you.  Take out your journal and write exactly what you want. How close are you to living your lifestyle? Is there something you can do right now to help you live that lifestyle? Maybe there is something you could read to help you learn how to get there, or a new food you could try to help you become more conscious about good health. Could you visit a travel agency and collect brochures about places you would like to travel to. Just think not only about what you want but how to have your dreams too.

N is for Niceties
What comes to your mind when you say the word niceties?
Just make a small list of what comes into your mind. Are there any that you could add right now to your life?

N is for Novice
Creating a hobby.
It's time to explore.
Take the time to be a novice at something.
There is something so wonderful about learning a new hobby and being a novice at it.
This is the time you can learn, make mistakes, and learn again.
You are not the teacher, the expert, but the student.

As always have fun with these activities.
Like, follow me, share this blog, and join in.
I would love to start having conversations about your ideas when you did one of the activities.

Creative Life A thru Z M= making magic around the house

M is for Making Magic

It's cold, it's windy, and it's Fall.....
I'm doing laundry  and came across a craft for "Felt Balls" , if you don't know what they are I will leave a link below.
I felt that my schedule didn't really leave me time to make homemade felt balls for the dryer, so I did this instead.

I added a few sprays of my favorite perfume, my signature perfume,
perfume I have been using very sparingly because I was told Ralph Larueen is no longer making this perfume.
Ralph Lauren Safari perfume
Safari for women contains a blend of orange, black currant, jasmine, sandalwood, cedarwood and vetiver. It is recommended for evening wear.

I tell you my whole house is smelling wonderful!!

Creative Life A thru Z ~ M = Be Marvelous

Better Together, acrylic, Mandala, by Jean Hart

The Creative Life A thru Z

~M = Marvelous

 Week Fourteen

What ever you do, Be Marvelous!!

Life is what you celebrate, All of it. ~Joanne Harris

This week is the celebration of the letter M. oh the words and fun that came to me with this letter. I believe so far I live in the activities of M.

When I was an exhibiting artist I had a solo fine art exhibit at the
Northeastern Nevada Museum in Elko, Nv
It's show title was "Kaleidoscope"
To see a small part of the exhibit at Highland Estates.
Click below

I had been painting mandala's ever since I read a biography of Carl Jung.
He said he did a small mandala everyday in his office before he started work each day.
I started with easy coloring books, and then later went on to make my own designs.
In world history all different cultures,  Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, Celtic, and, Native American have been making mandalas for well over 5,000 years.
One of the ways to use a mandala is to ask a question while you are creating your mandala, by the time you are finished hopefully you will have an answer.
Mandalas are symbols of community, wholeness, and spiritual journeys.
I am not going to go into the whole philosophy of the mandala here. My suggestion is for you to go to the library or internet and check out a book that can explain it in far more detail then I can on my simple blog here.

Art Journal Assignment:
Drawing a mandala
Freedom, mandala by Jean Hart

1. You can either buy a coloring book of mandalas and color in them, or you can make your own.
a. draw a circle, fold it in half, then half again.
b. Keep in mind that a mandala is a symmetric design and is repeated from one quarter to the other.
2. Drawing a mandalas is a time for you to be still, calm, and quite so you can focus on the big questions in your life. So, before you begin coloring, ask yourself a question, you might ask what you could do to change your life so you can enjoy it and have more fun with family and friends.
3. While the design is repeated from one quarter to the other quarter, meaning what is put on the right is also drawn on the left. YOU can color it anyway you wish.
4. When you finished, turn over your drawing and write the acronym B.L.E.S.S.M.E.
(body, lifestyle, emotions,social,spiritual,mind,environment.).
Now write 2 activities that came up that you could do. Do not worry if you didn't think of something for each category.  I personally like to keep the B.L.E.S.S.M.E. acronym in my active thinking.
5. Have fun with this, be creative, and don't censor yourself.
keep this list handy and commit to making those changes within the month.
I like to put these suggestion on my daily calendar so I can make plans to do the activities.

Kitchen Assignment:
Let's Get Cooking
For me, since I'm spending more time at home and in the kitchen learning how to eat clean and healthy, I have been turning some of my favorite recipes into a healthier recipes.

Vegan Magic Cookie Bars
I love magic bars, so I went hunting for a healthy version.
My family loved this one. It's gooey on the inside, sticky all over and
Marvelously Magic!!
This is the recipe I used :

Field Trip:
If you can, if it's this time of year where you live.
Go to a Farmers Market.
There is nothing like fresh vegetables from the farmers.
I had such a wonderful day with my daughter Sarah. We went to all the booths, asked questions,*(because everything is handmade), and came home with very fresh and unusual vegetables.

Framers Market

spinning wool

fresh tomatoes

I came home and made with all the fresh vegetables, vegetable dumplings, with fried shisuto peppers.

There's lots of more activities for the letter M, and I will most likely continue posting later.
As always have fun with this, share, like and follow so you don't miss a single post.
I would love to see your mandalas.
Because this is an ongoing project for me, and I continually change things for each letter. I would love it if you left me a little comment on how you are enjoying the assignments.

~jean

Welcome Home, Jean Hart

 Week Thirteen

L is for living in Awe

What is your biggest dream?

Ohhh the living in Awe....have you ever dreamed so hard that life just had to happen that way?
It is very possible to live like that.
It is my belief that when you set out your dreams God hears them.
Of course it doesn't happen as soon as you open your eyes...Oh no!!
Can you imagine everything that has to be moved around and shuffled for your dream to happen. But, it will happen in Divine Timing.
Write down your dreams, look at it often, write down an action plan, look at that too.
Say in gratitude, thank you for this dream, this life, this adventure. Thank you for the dream, the plan, the life.
Let's live in Awe, Let's live in gratitude.

The Creative Life A thru Z

~I is for Imagination

 Week Ten

I would like to express my gratitude to all of you who have joined me in this healing journey of creating a more creative life.
It's been fun for me to come up with activities for each letter of the alphabet. I have so many ideas that they don't all make it on this blog but are written in my printed pages.  I'm sure by the end of this project it will all be filled with fun activities and helpful projects so everyone can live a greater expression of their own creativity.

       I is for Imagination
" The imagination is the golden pathway to everywhere."
Terence McKenna

I love the idea of a golden pathway.
Just like the Wizard of OZ walking on the yellow brick road.
For me, it has been about curiosity, that is the seed of imagination.
Asking questions begins a whole snow ball of ideas.

Golden path to a new vision, journal page Jean Hart
Change.
I've felt the strong sense of change since the Eclipses!!
What has been happening for me is a lot of questions about my beliefs, my work, my life.
It of course starts with what do you want your life to look like.
How will you get there, and When. The When is important to me especially because I like deadlines. But, then again, maybe that's something I might think about changing. ....

Art Journal Assignment:

What's on your Golden Path
1. In your art journal, arrange your page to make a golden path.
It can be straight, crooked, up, down, across.  Anyway YOU want it.
2. Next, create all the things you want to experience along your path.
3. Create landscapes, texture, people, places, things.
4. Let go and IMAGINE!!

Writing Journal Assignment:
"It's Here...!"
1. Complete this sentence.
2. Write a page of what your imagination has brought to you on your Golden Path.
3. The imagination works on all your senses, try to use words that help express the whole experience. The more verbs the better for this assignment.

I is for Informed
Change the channel, and watch something you have never seen before.
This week, change how you get your information.
Pick up a new magazine, new genre in books and movies.
See if you can do this once a day for 7 days.

I is for Ice Cream
Summers not over where I live.
According to Baskin Robbins there is 31 flavors of ice cream.  I have yet to try them all.
So, before the summer is over I plan on trying a few new flavors.
How about you?

Meditation is one of the purest ways for me to get in touch with my true self.
Just before creating I sit in nature and be still.
This helps me open my mind to all new ideas.
Last week I went up to Lamoille Canyon for a last summer picnic. I made a video of sitting by the stream listening to the water.
Please enjoy, relax, and
As always, have fun with this.
Be inspired,
~jean

The Creative Life A thru Z ~F's Big Question

The Creative Life A thru Z

 Week Seven

F is for Fun
Jean Hart Artwork
https://www.zazzle.com/mbr/238392465965343686/collections

The Big Question?

?
Who or what inspires your creative urges?

Yesterday afternoon I heard thunder, so I knew we were not going to go kayaking.
I put my apron on and started looking through my magazines for something to bake.
I went to Martha Stewart's Living Magazine and found a recipe for
Chocolate Mayonnaise Cupcakes with Chocolate Mayonnaise Frosting.
Martha never lets me down.
She is my inspiration.
In my mothers day it was Julia Child's cooking, and for my daughter it is Rachael Ray.
But for me it's Martha Stewart.

When I started this blog I was looking for ways that I could bring in creative ideas and expressions into my life.
Just putting on the apron alone would have done it, but baking a cake from scratch!!
Well this made me feel accomplished!!
It was well worth the little mess in the kitchen, and to my surprise it really wasn't that hard.
Tell me what inspires you?
Be Inspired,
~jean

The Creative Life A thru Z week four

 week Four

What's cooking

C is for Cooking
Recently, I had a visit with my brother and his daughter.
She had just graduated from high school and
was on a summer vacation with her dad to visit us,
 and see our grandson.
We were planning our meals for the week,
when the conversation lead to our favorite childhood foods.
We settled on Mom's potatoes salad.
A truly wonderful dish that says summer.
We made our grocery list
 and came home
to prepare the potato salad for the next days barbecue.
Mom never wrote down her recipes, to our frustration,
she just added a little of this and a little of that.
Isn't is funny how we all remember things differently?
Between the both of us we managed to make this family favorite
and come up with a close enough recipe of Mom's potato salad that it inspired family stories.
Memories in the kitchen are a great way to share your life stories with others.

This weeks assignment :
C is for Cooking
1. Sit quietly and remember a time when you were enjoying your favorite childhood food.
2. Look at your weeks menu and see if you can make it this week.
3. Share in the actual cooking with family and friends.
4. Enjoy the meal, and share the history of this favorite childhood food with family and friends.

Journal Work
CIRCLES
Better Together, by artist  Jean Hart

1. In your journal start to draw circles. Circles of all sizes,  fill up the page with circles.
The circles can be touching, inside each other, or separate.
2.Now, with your art supplies, pens, marker, paints.
Fill in the circles with color.
3. Note which colors you used most, or which color is the most pleasing to you.
How are you responding to particularity colors?
Do you have a favorite color?

COLOR Therapy
Color therapy is an interesting subject.
I have read many books on this and studied the color wheel for painting.
I came across this website about the Psychology of Color.
Since, I'm doing a sampling of my curriculum here with you  online,
I thought I would share this website with you here.

Cook Books
Do you have a favorite cookbook?
Reading recipes makes me feel like a chemist.
I'm a very good cook! Why?
Because I follow the recipes.
Break out your favorite cookbook,
or good to a second hand store and find an old time cookbook that's
been very well used.
Here is a cookbook from a restaurant I'm hoping to visit in my travels.
