Interview with an Artist
Jean Hart
Welcome to my Art Blog.
On occasion I have the opportunity to hear questions asked to me by people who send me
e-mails. By the way, I love to receive your messages, and hear from people who like my art or want to know more about me.
For today I will pick 5 questions that I found in my e-mail recently.
Question:
Explain what you do?
Answer:
Okay, here I go.... My life goals as an artist have been to live more creatively.
While I was taking courses at Universities, I came across a course titled,
"Healing Arts". That's it!! It was a course that explored all aspects of liberal arts and applied it to daily living. Since then, I have striven to create a life within those guidelines and create artwork that is meaningful and insightful. Artwork that appreciates the world around me.
I'm currently an artist for "Artomat".
Where I create artwork on wooden blocks that are distributed around the nation.
I have an on-line store of my original artwork at Zazzle, where I have created amazing products from greeting cards to fashion wear.
I'm currently writing the book, "Creative Living A-Z" and hope to have it published soon.

Questions: How has your practice change over time?
My artwork like my life has completely changed. When I first started painting, I joined every contest, fair and exhibit I could sign up with. I won many awards, which I took for meaning people like my artwork so I should keep painting.
Later, I took commissions and that was good, but for me I found extremely stressful. Now, I paint for myself. I post my artwork on my blog, create products on zazzle and I paint for Artomat.
I invite anyone who sees my artwork on the small blocks that would like to commission me for a larger canvas piece to contact me.
This has worked out well me for.
What art do you most identify with?
I would love to say "Outsider Art" only because for the most part I am a self-taught artist. Looking at my past art, I see I'm more realistic and emotional. Like the paintings I used in my poem book, "Artwork from the Heart".
Today, I'm more interested in painting a pleasing painting that the viewer can connect with on a inspirational way.

What work do you most enjoying doing?
Right now, I'm loving the little blocks I paint for ArtoMat, I'm painting close to 600 original pieces of artwork each year. I'm learning to create an attitude of enjoyment of life without stress and pressure. I've gone back to some long-awaited hobbies I left behind.
Working from home gives me the opportunity to switch from one art form to another and still feel like I'm creating every day.

What’s your strongest memory of your childhood?
When I was younger creating was just a way of life for me. I was always busy with crafts and sewing. However, there is one craft that I did as a child that I want to go back to and that is papier-Mache. Making papier-Mache animal banks was so fun as a child I'm sure it would still be fun.
Be Inspired,
~jean
