Be Kind, Be caring, Be compassionate to yourself

Fire, Jean Hart Artwork
Be kind, be caring, be compassionate  Therapy,
Sometimes you just have to feel the pain. Feel the angry and feel the hurt.
Once you have decide how you want to handle it.
Some feelings you may want to take actions on, others you may only want to accept them for what they are.
Whatever way is best for you,
express it, feel it, grow with it.

Welcome Summer.
I just love summer. It's a time to sit outside and soak up the sun.
Now that I have my studio redone, it's been a pleasure to get in there and paint.

What painting has become the most famous portrait in the world?

What painting has become the most famous "portrait" in the world?
........Whistler's Mother.....
Even though Whistler's intentions for this painting was not to draw a portrait of his mother, the general public ignored his intentions and have instead gone beyond his study of grey and black, to claim that it was a tribute to mothers.
The original title was  simply,
"Grey and Black No. 1"
He was studying composition and color with no real regard for a portrait.
Before he was allowed to hang his painting in the Royal Academy of Art in London, England, Whistler was asked to change the title to Portrait of the Artist's Mother.

Make it a ritual

Hows your year going?
I made one resolutions at the beginning of this year and I'm happy to say I have kept it.
What was it?
It was to have the best year of my life.
I have registered for loads of classes, lectures, and lots of books.
This is the year I call the 30 year clean up.
I have donated one month to each room in my house and have physically taken it apart. Deep Cleaned it, thrown out anything I didn't like or doesn't work. Replacing it with thing that I like, match, and is in new or good condition.
But, you can't do that with your body.
Your body is with you forever and mine seems to get hurt a lot.
I found this little lesson I think is a great way to start the day with.
I'm making it my morning ritual.

The Best Year of Your Life
by Debbie Ford
 Bless Your Body

It's so easy to take our physical self for granted. Without even realizing it, we sometimes act as though we're immortal, ignoring our needs and driving ourselves too hard. It's easy to forget that our bodies are a delicate gift - a temporary home for our souls.
But if each of us really stopped to appreciate how precious our bodies are, we would nurture and bless them as we would a newborn child. We would live in awe of the miracle of our existence.
Begin each day this week with the awareness that your body needs and deserves special care, nourishment, and appreciation.
Your Self-Love Assignment
Each day this week - either in the morning or evening - spend five minutes sending love to each and every part of your body, from your head to your toes. As you consider your many wonderful and valuable body parts, just imagine what life would be like without that part of your body! Allow your hands to rest on each area of your body as you send it your love and thanks. Spend extra time on any areas you've hated or judged.
Take this on as a daily ritual and notice how you feel at the end of the week.

A Vision Board with a twist.

by Jean Hart

Vision Board Assignment
I get asked all the time.
How do you make a vision board?
What should I put on it?
What's it for?
A vision board is a personal vision of your life.
I am taking a Positive  Psychology class and our first assignment is a
Positive Profile of our emotions.
It's a lot like a vision board.
There are 10 Positive emotions we all experience:
Joy, Gratitude,Serenity, Interest, Hope,  Pride , Amusement, Inspiration, Awe, Love
Here is the assignment as it came to me from my Positive Psychology Class on Coursa.
I'm sharing this because I do vision boards all the time and this assignment is just a little different, but I think it is one that everyone would benefit from if they knew about it.

Select one of the ten positive emotions described in Video 1.3 and reflect on the people and situations that serve as springboards of this pleasant state for you. Then, pull together a personalized set of objects and mementos that create for you a heartfelt connection to this one emotion. Assemble these into a portfolio, a physical collection that you build as a shrine to this one positive emotion. Your portfolio might contain photos, letters, songs, quotes, or objects that carry deep personal meaning for you. Get concrete here. Your goal is to create a new fusion of personal artifacts, personalized triggers that revive your heart with positivity each time you engage with them. You might store your portfolio in a simple file folder or box. If it appeals to you, you might create a small scrapbook or a new folder of images on your smart phone. Don’t rush the process. Savor it and enjoy. Others have found this activity to be deeply rewarding and uplifting. Don’t miss out! Once you’ve created your own personalized Positivity Portfolio, reflect on the process. Did making it spark any positive emotions in you? If you slow down and mindfully engage with the artifacts in your portfolio, can you generate the targeted emotion?
