You see this pattern everywhere in nature.
You see this pattern in art too.
What makes one painting more beautiful than another?
The answer may surprise you.
It's Math!!!
Getting a painting to hold the right proportions is what has inspired artists for centuries.
Proportions is what holds a painting together to create the beauty and balance of a master piece.
The Golden Ratio

"One of the easiest ways to define the Golden Ratio is through the famous sequence of numbers named after the mathematician Fibonacci. See if you you can identify the pattern in the following set of numbers: 0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34....
Each number is the sum of the previous two numbers. When you divide any of the numbers by the one before it, you get roughly the same number, , and the value becomes increasingly refined as the numbers get larger."
Well there you have it.
Here is my challenge for today.
See how many things in nature you can find that has this pattern and ratio in it.
Start by really looking at flowers, shells, cones, the most common is the spiral itself.
We have talked about symbols and so it is the spiral too has a meaning.
Spiral: A symbol of change and forward motion. It means growth and progress.

It must be the time of the year. Everything I'm reading right now has something to do with Gratitude. So I'm not going to fight it, after all isn't that what life is all about? Being Thankful.
It takes 21 days to break a bad habit.
It takes 21 days to make a new habit.
So what do you think would happen if you took 21 days and filled a gratitude journal with all that you are grateful for and all that you love?:
Well I'm about to fink out and I invite you to do the same.
I just bought a wonderful pink journal to start my Gratitude Journal writing in.
I also went out and got a card for myself.
  I'm going to write an encouraging letter to myself and Send it in the Mail to me too!!!

This is my Card of Encouragement, It says, "Keep going! You can do it!, I know you have what it takes to do this!"
Here are just a few things I have collected on the subject of Gratitude.
  • Every time you feel grateful for something in your life, and every time you say Thank You for something or someone in your life you are giving love. You are sending love to yourself, to the person and thing you are grateful for and to the Universe.
  • Be grateful for everything you have already received in your life. This lets you understand what you have already been given.
  • Be grateful for everything you are receiving in your life. As you read this you are being given many blessings now
  • Be grateful for what you want in your life, as though you have received it already. I think I mentioned I believe your thoughts create your reality.
  • The more you feel gratitude and the more you say Thank You, the more love you will receive in your life.
  • So make a commitment to take a little time for the next 21 days to write down what your grateful for. Then start looking for little ways your life has changed.
  • It doesn't matter how small things are, it all counts.
Good luck with this 21 day challenge. I'm looking forward to hearing how your life has changed.

Today's card is
Change Direction
 Have I said how I pick these cards? It's by pure chance. I shuffle, close my eyes and count out my lucky number and bing, bam,boom...Wisdom card at my finger tips. It's always what I need when I need it.
Change direction, how appropriate for the first day of the new season.
Today's lesson:
"Know that healing sometimes depends on the strength, willingness, and ability to change direction. Many people postpone doing so due to fear or laziness, and then they wonder why they're not happy and healthy. "
Yes, change is in the air. Sometimes changes happens to you, like for me an accident.
 Changed my whole life.
I have come to think my life is better for the accident. I wouldn't be an artist, or learn yoga, meditation, or travel as much as I do. I'm kinder and easier with myself. But, there is one thing I have to really watch out for. I must continually motivate myself.
 It would be so easy to just sit on ice all day and do nothing else.
I have finished my cane project and planted it next to the olive tree. With that action came the meditation for good health, strong body and the excitement to plan for new adventures.
Leaving behind the words, I can't, I wont, No.
Replacing it with, I would love to do that, show me how, help me learn, I want to go there.
 Yes, yes, yes.
This my little painting in color pencil about the path lined with wooden canes.
The movie "Enchanted April" inspired me to paint the painting, then create a cane for the garden. The question the movie made me ask was,
"If you plant a wooden cane in the soil would it grow into a tree?"
 
Your Goal: "to make one solid, effective healing choice by the end of the day that can positively change the direction of your life."
Sweet, I plan on cleaning up the patio and putting up tree lights.
for the rest of the summer my morning meditation will be outside.
For the third season, the direction changes will be.
1. Being outside more, I don't garden, I walk at the gym on a treadmill, for safety reasons. So being outside is something I have to be conscious about.
2. The direction of my art is changing. I'm giving more art painting parties.
Less painting for shows and exhibits.
I have also taken a pottery class. So many projects I want to make. In the coming months I will be making them with fimo clay so I can do this at home.
3. Physical exercise, YOGA, this is the season of Wanderlust.
 A yoga retreat coming up in July for 4 days.
4. Home projects....maintenance.....it's time....
5. Something new.....I want to take up croucheing I have a shawl I want to make for a wedding coming up.
Yes the wisdom card said one thing for today, and then My list went on for the third season of change.

The stage of growth the lotus flower is in represents a different stage of enlightenment. A closed lotus flower represents the time before a Buddhist follower found Buddha or enlightenment. A lotus flower fully bloomed and open represents full enlightenment and self-awareness.

Today's card is
Radiance
"I am a radiant reflection of God's light."
Card meaning: " Your radiance acts as a beacon pulling the bounty of the universe to you. Your heart is open, your spirit glows, and your connection to the Source is strong."
 Funny thing, I don't feel radiant. I mean, right now I feel like I'm struggling.
There is change in the air. I feel it. It's not something I can put my finger on and say "See there it is." but I'm feeling unsettled.
I have canceled all plans for this weekend. I have been traveling a lot lately and I just didn't want to pack another suitcase. I just want to be home and work on my patio.
My artwork has slowed way down, although I have picked up pottery for the next two weeks.
My diet, is still going strong, but the scale is not moving.
Summer has started, but the temps have been cold.
So, If I'm radiance, my light is flickering.

Even if you're feeling dull and lethargic, you can transform your state by acting as if you're feeling expansive, content, and luminous. Wow, I am only just reading this as I type, so it's kinda like I'm reading this with you.
This is how I'm feeling. "Even if you're feeling dull and lethargic," This card is spot on. .....
So how do I get from dull to radiant.
 
Here is the 3rd season of transformation
Celebration, love and family, and eating healthfully.
Time is going by quickly and I don't feel as if I have gotten much done.
Pretending AS IF....Okay here I go....
Act as if I'm healthy, strong, and happy.
Continue to create, learn, listen.
Be inspired, and inspire others,
putting music on and doing my chores, one after another,
looking up new recipes,
finishing my cane project.
getting the patio cleaned up.
So this is my list I will be doing while acting "as If".... and hopefully this will catapult me into a shinning state of radiance. I have faith it will. I know sometimes you have to do things you don't want to do to get the things you want. I also know it's the first step that's the hardest. I just have to get past the resistance part.

June's Aspects

June Friday the 13th and a Full Moon.
I plan on having a fire meditation in the light of the full moon.
June's Aspects

This month of June received its name from the Goddess Juno, protector of women and marriage. This is where the custom of June brides originates. This month has many flower festivals, rose parades, weddings, and dances. Midsummer Night is a major international holiday for lovers, for divining the future, for building bonfires, and for jumping them for good luck.
Full moon aspect: Mead moon, strong sun moon
Universal event: The sun is moving away from the earth, but the constant moon prevails. The summer is peaking out, all ripens and gets ready for the harvest.
Communal event: Midsummer Night and Day. This is usually a three day festival featuring dancing in the woods, with religious ecstasy. This is a time to gather all the tribes together, travel home to the old homestead, visit family and kin. All restrictions of chastity were lifted at the time, marriage proposals and weddings are lucky now.
Message: to bond, to lead, to rule
Activity: Endurance and triumphant fulfillment
Emotional mode: Bonding, loyalty
Healing properties: To make Strong, to cleanse, prevention and protection
Color: Purple, indigo
Tree: Oak and mistletoe, symbols of the male principle. This is the time for ritually cutting mistletoe and catch it in a white cloth so that it never touches the ground
Flower: Rose
Creature: Wren
Gem: Pearl, moonstone, alexandrite
On the full moons I like to sit quitely and write out my intensions for the future. Planting the seeds of love, prosperity, good health and so on.
This year Kerry joined me in a Moom Meditation and afterward with made a fire and burned our intentions for the Universe to read.
We will not have another Friday the 13th Full Moon until 2049. I will be 93 years old, I'm not sure I will see this again. I'm so happy I got to share this with Kerry.

VISUALIZE A HEALTHY
 BODY AND MIND.
I have been visualizing for years. I have many tapes on meditation and just recently I have been using binarial beats to connect my mind/body to work together. When I slipped my L5 disc, I made a journal of the process of healing. This is a picture I made of myself listening to the tapes. Seriously, I believe that it helped. Along with all the other therapies I was doing and still do.
TODAY'S LESSON:
" Visualize yourself as a completely healthy person, inside and out. Do one thing that brings you closer to achieving that state. Your goal: to do whatever it takes to become the healthiest you possible!"
 Yes, this is so true. Changing my priorities about my health has been huge. I do not give up my morning meditation easily. Even when I'm on vacation. If it means I have to get up an hour earlier than everyone else to sit in meditation I do it.
This is a cane I bought at FISH, for 1.00.
Let me explain. I watched a movie called "Enchanted April".....as the story goes the Forrest on the property is the result of wooden canes given up by their owners and pushed into the soil and eventually they became trees. Of course there is more to the movie then that but I find the symbolism to work for me.
I bought this cane and I plan on sanding it down, decorating it, and then pushing it into the soil next to my olive tree in my garden.
What will this represent for me?
Giving up my crutch and becoming healthy, standing on my own two feet.
I'm giving up the pain, the sadness for a body that no longer does what it use to, now accepting it for what it can do for me. Knowing full well that I decide how my body and mind work together and that being the caretaker of my new body will take some work, understanding and compassion.
The dedication I have to being the strongest I can be now is the transformation I am doing this years. I am setting down the ground work and make the routines a lifestyle.
Later I will post the picture of my final cane and where I have placed it in the garden.
For Tonight, Friday the 13th and a Full Moon.
I plan on having a fire meditation tonight in the light of the full moon.

Mary Alice Park, labyrinth

Sarah and I took off for 2 days to have an adventure.
We went to Twin Falls for a little girls retreat.
Top on our list was visiting the Mary Alice Park, labyrinth. I had no idea what it was going to be like. It is this beautiful garden in the middle of old town.
Everywhere on the path was a chair, bench, statue, and in the center was a beautiful waterfall.
It was so calm and peaceful. We walked the labyrinth, sat in the middle enjoying the waterfall, and then went to sit in the shade by the mural.
While we were there a few people came in to walk and sit and be in the silence.
They have been working on this park for six years. The one great thing we noticed was that it had not been vandalized. It has a little iron gate you walk through, not locked, it's free and no one is there to monitor you.
It's the best kept secret in Twin Falls.

The Summer Shift


There's a shift going on....or it could just be summer coming on

Shifting; Does anyone else feel it? The weather, the economy, emotions, families, friends, THE WORLD.
THE PEAR. SUCH A HUMBLE FRUIT. Yet it carries with it the healing properties of the heart. I was once told to mend a broken heart one should eat pears, the fruit, the juice, the jam........
I look around me and I feel the shift. I'm listening to the conversations around me and I am surprised by the reactions people are having to the most common things in their lives. Perspectives are changing. People who have set life long rules for themselves are breaking their own rules. How do you respond to this?
I believe we as a whole are starting to rethink our views on the people around us, on instuitions, on social issues. It's just a HUGE SHIFT.
DOES ANYONE ELSE FEEL THIS?
I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR OTHER PEOPLES VIEWS ON THIS.
