The County Fair is not too far off.
People are growing vegetables, sewing crafts, and painting.
I've started to paint for the Fall season for Art O Mat.
Pumpkins always say Fall to me.
I'm thinking of baking for the fair this year.
This is my favorite recipe for Pumpkin Pie.

Sunday's art appreciation document Mark Rothko

Jean Hart Artwork
My movie pick for this Long weekend.
art appreciation.

Mark Rothko.
abstract artist

It's not really a movie, but a art documentary.
I remember when I first saw one of his paintings. It was in an art book. Without knowing the story behind the abstract paintings I thought. How plain. What's the point?
I was an art student and I did not know how to look at art, not really.
Can art change a person, or their perspective of the world?
Can art make you cry?
That's what his art did for many who first saw it.

When I was working on the exhibit
"Elements"
I came across his paintings again.
This time, I felt in the stillness of his work and there was a pull of emotion.
I incorporated a little of his style in my painting .
"A page in History".
Here is a closer look of it.
This was my painting for
AIR
Air painting, My concern is about the Ravens and Crows in my area. They are being poisoned and blamed for the decrease in the Sage Grouse bird population. Of course, there is much more to it then that. You can read more about it here. http://elkodaily.com/news/local/save-sage-grouse-target-ravens-county-hopes-pilot-program-sets/article_e8d4fe28-8df4-11e2-9981-0019bb2963f4.html

Do you ever paint about life issues?
I would love to hear about it, if you do.
As always feel free to comment, share, follow.

Tomatoes, Tamatoes

Jean Hart Artwork
Tomatoes, Tamatoes
Still life
by Jean Hart
I'm working on this little still life, and it has taken me many steps to finish the highlights.
I think I'm done. But, then every now and again, something catches my eye that I want to fix.
Right from the start, shame on me. I didn't have the right red color and tried to mix and match a tomatoe color.
I think I should have used a scarlet red. So, for now I have not sealed this painting up.
I don't know if I can fix the color or if I should just say done.
The really cool thing about acrylic paint is that you can go over it with a new color and the background color will not show through.
Artist tip:
The best way to handle gels and pastes is with a palette or painting knife. Use the knife to scoop the mediums out of containers, mix them with paint, or spread them over your paintings. surface.
These mediums let you experiment with the consistency of your paint. They will help give texture to your painting.

It's gonna get messy around here

Jean Hart Artwork
www.zazzle.com/jeanhar1*
It's gonna get a little messy in here.
I have a new commission....
It's been awhile since I have taken on a commission.
The last three years have been a little intense with working on my back injury.
But, I'm feeling great and I'm ready for the challenge.
It will be a combinations of three pictures to celebrate life.
Commissions are tricky.
First, the person who wants a painting has to really be sure they know your style.
I have a pretty bold palette and if they don't understand that, they will not like the painting.
Second, the person who brings you a commission already has the painting worked out in their own mind.
That's gonna be tough, because as an artist I will be working on the composition and placement of objects.
They may not like the painting.
Third, Yeegads!!! They may want to see the progress of the painting.
They will feel they are entitled to help create the masterpiece and give suggestions.
Be Kind.
Fourth, The size and price. Be specific about what size the painting will be, the medium, and price.
Also, try to do it in a timely manner.
None of this , fine art takes time.....
Remember, they are excited to see the masterpiece .
As an artist doing commissions make me nervous.
I never use to take them on. I just couldn't handle the stress.
But, now the rules is to say YES!!!
Even if you think, oh boy, I've never done this before.
DO IT ANY WAY!!
It's part of your artistic growth.
Off I go to the studio.
Bon Le Vie,

What My Soul Wants Me To Know

Jean Hart Artwork

Peace, acrylic, 9" x 12" , Jean Hart

What My Soul Wants Me To Know,
cards from
Soul Coaching,
Denise Linn

Peace
That's the card I pulled for today,
"I breathe deeply, knowing that all is well in my universe."

There is a certain calmness that comes to you when you just stop and breathe. The schedule I have been on lately has for me been too busy with business, and many new projects.
I have always believed that I was in the right place at the right time doing the right thing.
But, suddenly I feel like I'm pushing things, forcing my way, and truly not getting things done.
I have slowed down my yoga, but not all of it. The beautiful part of yoga is the breathing.
Pranayama. Learning to breathe with intention.
When ever I get myself worked up and involved in projects that take a lot a concentration, I forget the breathe.
Lately, I have been practicing  Pranayama breathing twice a day. It's just enough to keep me centered and relaxed. I gives me time to focus and get out of myself.
It only takes a few minutes, so you don't need as much time as meditating.

Here is a good place to start.

Card Meaning: Breathe...and breathe again, deeply, and often. Everything is flowing as it's meant to be, smoothly and effortlessly. All is in perfect harmony.

Your Soul Wants you to know:
"True peace isn't static and boring, it's full of grace, enthusiasm, and vitality. Tranquility is the awareness that all is unfolding according to divine planning. Serenity isn't something that you have to attain, work at , or search for. It's already dwelling within you. To experience this within yourself, simplify your life, spend time in nature, and take time to listen to the messages of your Soul. Peace transcends fear and the illusion of separation and connects you intimately to God.
I make lists, many, many, lists....I have now started a new list. It's called
"The Finished List".
I read this about people who are successful. Not only do they write a list of to-do's, they then write a list of "Finished". What a great way of seeing that you really are doing what needs to be done, and  that all is in perfect harmony.

Iris and butterfly, acrylic, 8" x 10" Jean Hart
Spring is so beautiful after a long cold winter.
When I take my walks now I see butterflies everywhere.
It made me think of what should be my motto for spring.
"Yep, not a caterpillar no more."
Look to find inspiration in the world around you, or you could be an inspiration the others, It's your choice.

Jean Hart Artwork Newsletter April 2015

Jean Hart Artwork
Newsletter
April 2015

Today's the day.
I just finished my two samples.
I have painted, sealed, and sent them off with my application.
The two paintings, left and right are part of my new series,
"Let's have a Little Fun"
Wish me luck.
I will let you know what happens later.
As an artist I am always looking for new ways to show my artwork along with selling my artwork.
I have joined many  organizations, contests, and mail art programs.
For me art has been a life line. I would paint each day even if no one saw my work.
I love art. I read about art, I look at art each day, and I paint each day.
I have three books going at all times.
Art history, art biographies, and how to paint books.
I can loose myself wondering around an art supply store for hours.
I love to see whats new. Try something I have not yet done and basically be creative in all areas not just painting.
What's next for Jean Hart Artwork
I started to draw on paper cups. Paper Coffee Cups with lids, which I make bigger so you can use them as banks. I bought a box of cups so I'm still designing banks. New designs will soon be posted.
If your looking for an original, original fine art gift, these are fun.
I glue them to a wooden base for more security.
I have them displayed at the Northeastern Nevada Museum gift store or contact me.
they sell for $15.00
In May at the Elko Library I have a donation for their Just Desserts fundraiser
Read, Learn, Grow, acrylic 9" x 12"

Also, a puzzle  donated for the
Light The Way 5K
In Elko, Nv

Road Trip...

Road Trip.....
It's that time of year for planes, cars, and cruise ships

Souls in Flight, acrylic, by Jean Hart
I love Road trips...You just can't beat the freedom of being in your own car and driving down the road with the radio blasting.
Some of my favorite trips have been when we just took off without reservations.
I loved the spontaneity of it, but I also love a well planned itinerary.
I've been lost for hours, stuck in a town over night because of car trouble,
and have spontaneously gone off course.
I love it all!!  And of course every time it is an adventure!
But, if you are the kind of person who must know where you are at all times.
Follow a map and not get swayed from it.
Here is a site that will take you to all 48 states, only stops at national monuments, landmarks, historic sites. And best of all you can do it from the comfort of your own car.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/03/15/plan-a-road-trip_n_6839764.html

Some of my favorite road trip music:
Jimmy Buffett
John Denver
Bruce Springsteen
Willie Nelson

Where is your next trip?
