    Doors open at 4:30 pm at the Carlin Fire Department 121 Hamilton St.
    Dinner will be Dutch oven / Barbeque at 6pm...
    Dinner tickets $15.00 a person
    Gun/ Half Hog Raffle $5.00 each
    Raffle tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00

    Discount price for kids, we have a kids raffle and auction also.
    Purchase your dinner tickets or raffle tickets from any Carlin Firefighter or the Carlin Fire station, or Ruby Mountain Pawn.
    All proceeds will go towards the new fire station which is under construction now.

I've been home for about two weeks and I have been trying to put into words what my spring break trip was like.
Harbin Hot Spring was not what we were expecting.
We are more like city girls going on a girls spa vacation.  
What we got was so much more.
Because there are no cameras or cell phones allowed I could not take pictures.
Here is a site with everything at the Harbin Hot Springs.
 
The first thing we noticed is that we never knew what time it was.
 
We did not have our phones and neither of us wore our watches.
In fact, for me watches have become more of a fashion statement then really relying on them for time. I can't stand being late for anything. This was going to be my first lesson.
With no clock in the room, we missed a few early morning  yoga classes. 
 I quickly learned where the clocks were hanging.
My second lesson, was that, If you pack it, you must carry it.....and I mean pack and load up a step hill to the three story staircase to our room!!!
 
Once we were unpacked and settled in we drove up to the "domes" to experience the famous Watsu massage.
This is an amazing massage. Floating in the water, twisted, and turned and guided.
After driving two days to get here it was a well chosen therapy.
Harbin Hot Springs has enough to do each day that you do not have to leave the area.
Each day they have yoga classes, each afternoon they have workshops, and in the evening there is a theater that is free.
I walked the labyrinth and the garden,  participated in workshops about new ideas in the Temple. I had one of my best yoga classes, the teacher played an instrument and sang to us.
In three days with each day different then the one before it I hardly cared that people were not wearing clothes. My biggest growth was physical growth I,  just because it was not easy to get around to the events. Harbin is built on a mountain side so everywhere you went was a hike up or down hill, and stairs, stairs, stairs. Yoga classes were my least concern, just getting to the class was exercise enough.
But I did it. I climbed the stairs, the hills, and lugged my suitcases.
I may not go back to Harbin, but I'm sure glad I went this spring break.

Each year my daughter and I go somewhere together during her spring break.
This year she called me to say, "Mom, I just heard of a place in California I would like to go. Here is the name and number. Can you make us reservations?"
We have started to practise yoga and last year we went to Wanderlust and had a blast. Yoga classes with master teachers, workshops on meditation, pool parties, and met some wonderful people.
So I said Yes.
Here is how my reservation conversation went.
Harbin Hot Springs.
Me: Hello, I would like to make reservations to stay during the week of spring break.
HHS: Great, would you like to stay in the yurts?
Me: No.
HHS: Are you interested in  tent camping?
Me: No. I would like a room.
HHS: Okay, we have dormitories available with the bathroom down the hall.
Me: Oh, I was hoping for a room with a bed and private bath.
HHS: Yes, we have those.
Me: ( oh, thank goodness), Ok lets do that.
HHS: Have you ever stayed with us before.
Me: No.
HHS: Welcome, we have a few rules just so you know. This is a computer free environment, no cell phones, no camera, no kindles, We have kitchens for you to cook your own food, it's only vegan, no meat allowed. But we did offer a restaurant that services vegetarian food. There is no alcohol and smoking only in permitted areas.
Me: Wow, sounds great.
HHS: We have hot spring pools and massages too. We are know for our water massages, the watsu.
Me: Great, I would love to try that.
HHS: Oh one more thing. We are a clothes optional facility.
Me:.........yoga too?
HHS: No, just around the hot springs.
Me: ok lets do this.

Chance, choice, fate or destiny?
I just finished reading a little something on this subject. I started a little book on the Secret of Power. Here is a quote from it, from William Jennings Bryan, “Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice.”
At first that seems easy enough to understand, but if you say it again with intention you will feel something inside you that tells you, Yes that makes sense.
It goes on to say how life follows you, because what you choose is what you live. Life does not just happening to you.
It all goes along with the thinking of "What you think is your reality.”
I believe we do make our own realities. So again, here is another quote Be careful what you wish for, it might come true.”
I have changed it to “Be careful what you think, It will come true.”

You see this pattern everywhere in nature.
You see this pattern in art too.
What makes one painting more beautiful than another?
The answer may surprise you.
It's Math!!!
Getting a painting to hold the right proportions is what has inspired artists for centuries.
Proportions is what holds a painting together to create the beauty and balance of a master piece.
The Golden Ratio

"One of the easiest ways to define the Golden Ratio is through the famous sequence of numbers named after the mathematician Fibonacci. See if you you can identify the pattern in the following set of numbers: 0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34....
Each number is the sum of the previous two numbers. When you divide any of the numbers by the one before it, you get roughly the same number, , and the value becomes increasingly refined as the numbers get larger."
Well there you have it.
Here is my challenge for today.
See how many things in nature you can find that has this pattern and ratio in it.
Start by really looking at flowers, shells, cones, the most common is the spiral itself.
We have talked about symbols and so it is the spiral too has a meaning.
Spiral: A symbol of change and forward motion. It means growth and progress.
