The Mouton a Cinq Pattes, at 19 rue Gregoire-de-Tours in the 6th, has clothes from last year's runway shows, usually worn just once, at the show. Shopping at the Mouton is not for the indecisive, the atmosphere is frantic, and the clothes go fast. If you're a modelesque size zero, this is the place for you!!

 

 

Okay, well size zero has never hung in my closet. But I do like clothes.

I have found the most interesting clothes at Love's gas station. No, really. I got a great summer dress there for $12.00!!! I'm always looking for good deals, interesting design and now since I've gone just a little retro, 100% cotton. Of course that means I have to bring out the iron. There is something calming and relaxing about getting out wrinkles.

I have a wedding to go to in August. I really don't want to buy yet another fancy dress that will only get worn once. So.......while looking on Pinterest, (who doesn't like Pinterest?), I saw the most beautiful plain dress that was embellished with diamonds and pearls on the shoulder and back.....Yes, I'm thinking that will be my next creation.

Before France developed its railroads in the 1800's Parisians ate mostly what came from the surrounding countryside. Roquefort is from southwestern France. All of these cheeses are still found in the city's cheese shops today.

I love cheese. All kinds, and I often have cheese and fruit when I entertain, camp, or just because.

It is well worth the money and time to experiment with the flavors of different cheeses.

It can be a bit overwhelming to see so many different kinds.

Start with one or two, keep a list going. write down how it smelt, the texture, taste, if you liked, would you buy it again.

As the monumental Tour Eiffel neared completion, Herminie Cadolle, matriarch of one of Paris's best known lingerie stores, stitched together the world's first brassiere. Her mission: to free women of the cumbersome and painful corset. Cadolle debuted her invention at the Paris Convention in 1900, right under the Eiffel Tower.

 

I for one am very pleased that she did. I can not even imagine the pains it would take to get myself into a corset.

Now, you think I'm going to talk about the Eiffel Tower, NOPE, Bra's!!!

I love them, I wear them and I have many of them.

I even have a whole drawer dedicated to them.

The "light" of Paris actually refers to the city's artists, writers and sculptors, who made Paris world renowed. These artists tended to gather of Paris' Left Bank, which was known for its cafes and scholars, including Pablo Picssso, Henri Matisse, Ernest Heming way and F. Scott Fitzgeralsd.

 

Can you just imagine what it would be like to be sitting in a cafe with these artists, writers, sculptors? I wonder who sits there now? Who are the great, aritst of our times, in the 2000's . I will have to look that up.

France surrendered to German forces on June 10, 1940, and remained occupied until August 25, 1944. When Allied forces liberated the city. The first Allied force to enter Paris was the French Second Armored Division, led by General Philippe Leclerc.

 

I've been watching some of the movies that won awards last year. Funny how I did not see most of the winners. I came across this movie the other day, and while it is not about France it is a story during World War ll ,

"The Book Thief", great story, I suggest you bring tissue.
