Meditation Creation

Meditation Creation
Namasta color pencil, Jean Hart Artwork
Come along with me and join in on the fun.
Today, I will be outlining 6 steps to Relaxation and Let Go.
I usually add music to enhance the technique.

6 Steps to Relax and Let Go

It is always best to sit in a quit room if you can. Get comfortable in a chair with your feet flat on the floor and your eyes closed. I have in the past done this laying down, but I usually fall asleep.
  1. I have a mantra I say, but you may choose a word of your own to focus on. Pick one that is simple, one syllable, and easy for you to remember.
  2. Sit upright in a comfortable position, your hands can rest in your lap facing up or down. The important thing is to be comfortable.
  3. Take a few deep breaths to relax. count 6 breaths in, hold 7, exhale 8. Do this 3 times.
  4. Now just breath in normally. Repeat your word silently on your exhale.
  5. Your mind will continue to bring thoughts to you, that's OK, just don't let them distract you. Let them come to you, and then let them move on with each exhale.
  6. Continue for 20min. I find it easier if I set a timer before I start. This way I can relax and enjoy my meditation without the worry of time. Stay quiet with your eyes closed. After 20min, awake slowly and easily come back. Do 3 more deep breaths.
Now you are ready to enjoy your day. If you can do this twice a day that would be great.
Be inspired.

The First Change

Change, Transformation, reinvent.
What ever I'm calling it, it's time to started working on it.
today's lesson:
Change.
Find one small thing that you've been wanting to change , but haven't yet. It should be something that will change your life.
My goal here is to improve my life. Feel alive, strong, healthy and adventurist.
I postpone the very things I need to do. I like a good rut.
I know that if I change one thing, it will ignite many changes around me.
Do you know what the Butterfly Effect is.
Taken from the Wise Geek
"The butterfly effect is a term used in chaos theory to describe how small changes to a seemingly unrelated thing or condition (also known as an initial condition) can affect large, complex systems. The term comes from the suggestion that the flapping of a butterfly's wings in South America could affect the weather in Texas, meaning that the tiniest influence on one part of a system can have a huge effect on another part. Taken more broadly, the butterfly effect is a way of describing how, unless all factors can be accounted for, large systems like the weather remain impossible to predict with total accuracy because there are too many unknown variables to track."
So, yes, a small change that I make will change my very life as I know it.
I'm ready to change a few things.
Here is a very small list I'm putting on my to do list today.
1. registering for a pottery class
2. signing up for the city pool
3. Semi vegan dinners are being planned
4. using only cloth bags.
5. getting personal items out of the living room and dining room. (seriously, that ones huge)
I have not seen this, but it's on my list. It's a movie about the Butterfly Effect. Read the review to see if it's something you may want to watch. Looks like a suspense, action, thriller.

The Key to this is to do small changes at a time.

Yogi Girl's Adventures

Yogi Girl's Adventures

Sarah and I are on an adventure.
It started in January when a new yoga studio opened in our town. We thought , "Great, lets do yoga and loss weight".
BOY WERE WE SURPRISED!!!
Yoga has not only helped us loss weight, but it has saved my life, and changed our attitudes.
It's a life philosophy.
We took a trip to Salt Lake City to go to the Holi Feast, Color Festival, at the Hindu Temple.
It was a whole afternoon of music, dancing, throwing colors in the air, and eating Indian Food.
Of course there is a whole meaning about the festival if you are interested in knowing.
Click on the this link, it will explain it better then I could.

It was a blast and Mc Yogi, DJ Drez were performing.
Here are a few a my favorite songs, listen to the words, they will change your life.

The day started with Yoga at the Bhakti Yoga Lounge in SLC, McYogi , DJ Drez, and Amanda were the guest to perform live music and a yoga class.
McYogi and Amanda own their own yoga studio in California, Yoga Toes.
It was a 2 hour yoga class and I'm amazed I stayed with it. But, McYogi came and helped me with a yoga pose , and I thought that was cool.
After meeting him and his wife, and hearing his songs , I'm a huge fan.
The trip was fun, we learned a lot, laughed out loud, and made some new friends along the road of life.

The Song of the Pearl

The Song of the Pearl
An Ancient Gnostic Poem

The Song of the Pearl, "tells the story of the prince who wears a gorgeous jewel encrusted robe. One day his parents tell him that he must take off the magnificent robe and journey out from his homeland into an alien country where he will find a precious pearl guarded by a fierce dragon. He is instructed to tame the dragon and bring the Pearl back to the kingdom. In so doing he will be permitted to wear the robe again and share the sovereignty of the kingdom with his brother. The prince unquestioningly obeys the king and queen and well supplied with princely goodies sets off on his journey. On reaching his destination, he feels lonely and disoriented. He adopts the clothes and customs and language of the people and forgets who he is and why he is there. He falls into a sort of trance. Hearing of this, his parents write a letter reminding him of his regal heritage and his mission. They attach it to an eagle and dispatch the eagle to the prince. The eagle and the message awaken the prince from his trance. He hypnotizes the dragon with wondrous words and then, with the help of the eagle, he returns home, pearl in hand. He is warmly welcomed and delighted to gaze again on the glorious robe. He sees it reflecting the magnificence and unity of all creation. He covers himself with its splendour and joyfully takes his place beside his brother as crown Prince of the kingdom. "

An Ancient Gnostic Poem, The Hymn of the Robe of Glory, " The Song of the Pearl".

I'm still studying the myths and ancient stories, this is a story of the journey of human consciousness. Through the path of separateness, on towards the Divine journey home.
I present this to you to make your own interpretations and to see the wonderful symbols within this myth, it has survived the test of time in its perennial wisdom,
Please enjoy the story and the artwork.

today's weight 230.2lbs
Total weight lost 20 lbs
BMI 37.2
cal. intake 1385

YEAH!!!!!! :-))
Seems to be a 1 pound a week program, sometimes more. Over all I'm pleased with the results.
Change happens slowly. There are times when I think nothing has changed, that I'm not different at all, I'm not making any progress. Until, I'm standing in front of the cookie isle and hear myself say, "You don't need dessert, EAT FRUIT!"
Yes, that's how change works. Slowly and when your not looking. Suddenly, what you use to do, your not doing anymore.
The most changes I have felt in the last four months are; physically, I'm more active, I hurt less, and if I do hurt say my back or knees, I recover quicker. I sleep better, no more pacing the floor at 2 AM, and I believe I am generally happier.
What's the difference between change and transformation?

I named 2014 my year of TRANSFORMATION...a personal reinvention if you will....since I totally believe thoughts become action , action becomes life....and well there you go,
 thoughts becomes things.
The dictionary defines change as, "to become different,"
Reinvent, as, "to remake or redo completely."
Transform; as " to change from one kind to another,"
So, I'm thinking, change is one action, reinvent is a combination of lots of changed actions, and, transformation, it's the process.
Trust the process, fruit is better then cookies.
Knowing how much I read and love quotes here is one I now have posted on my refrigerator.
"Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change." Jim Rohn
Not sure that he meant that for food choices, but it works for me.
Loads of things going on now. Since I have said YES, to walking again. I have been signing up for 5K walks all around the state of Idaho and Nevada. My goal is to do one walk each month until Sept.
My next walk for May is in Pocatello, ID. Breakout5K. We will be walking around the town and when we get to the jail, the COPS will chase us to the finish line. We get to eat their donuts and take mug shoots. How fun....of course even though my brain is screaming DONUTS, the words out of my mouth will be NO THANKS, I WILL JUST HAVE WATER, NO BREAD.
See what I mean about change. one change at a time.
My next weigh in will be Late May. I have blood test scheduled, so I will weigh on the scale that is official. The one that started this journey.
