Look we are on the marque!!! 

 

 

We are so excited, and getting ready for the reception.

Friday, Aug. 23, 6-8 P.M.

It is open to the public and free.

There will be refreshments, music, fine art, and door prizes.

So many of you have asked me how we came up with our art group name?

4womenArt

It's a wonderful story.

4womenArt is a collaboration of five women artist,

Vicky Andrus,Dee Burton, Gay Carrillo, Jean Hart, and Barbara Hofheins.

 

Dee Burton, who usually holds a fine art show at the museum with artists from around the state of Nevada, with judge and jury entries, prizes, and a reception, was not able to do it one year.

 Dee asked if we could help keep the fine art show going.

 We were then only four of us:  

 a Wednesday night group called Attitude Adjustment.

 It was there one Wednesday night, painting, talking and probably eating too that we

 formed our art group titled

4womenArt

We are an art group with years of painting experience. Gay alone has been painting for 55 years, Vicky 35, Barbara since she was six.

We share the same ideas about art and art education and giving back to the community.

We saw this as a real opportunity to show our artwork and our commitment to painting new techniques, new ideas, new vision.

We had our first show with Dee's format. Two years later under 4womwnArt we had our second art exhibit, "4 square with Red".

When Dee came back to paint with us, the name 4womwnArt had clicked and people recognized our art group as the 4womenArt.  

We now do shows with only the original five artists.

The "Elements" art exhibit is our third at the Northeastern Nevada Museum.

This year we are featuring Joseph Carrillo, composer. He has created original music for this art exhibit inspired by our artwork.

Sometimes a pear is just a pear

GETTING EVERYONE ON THE SAME PAGE WHEN IT COMES TO ART....

I spend much of my day looking at art, visiting online museums, and working on my own artwork.

I have often thought that art should bring a response from the viewer. Yes, sometimes I fall to painting a still life only because it brings me the pleasure of painting and doing something productive. After all a pear is only a pear and you can't really respond too emotionally to that.

Or can you? It is said to heal a broken heart, eat a pear.

The Elements

Northeastern Nevada Museum

This is a collaboration of five women artist, Vicky Andrus, Dee Burton, Gay Carrillo, Jean Hart, and Barbara Hofheins. Original music was created by Joseph Carrillo.

Together these talented artists came together to embrace the ELEMENTS.. EARTH, AIR, FIRE, WATER, AND SPIRIT.

Each artist was given a 34" x 36" canvas. With no other instructions of how to lay the canvas, or what type of medium they could use.  
They started to paint.

The result of months of painting is what you see at the art exhibit.

These artists have been painting together for six years.

As you wonder from one painting to the next you will see different techniques, different mediums, different philosophies.

They have set out to embrace the totality of the Elements.

This is a powerful exhibit, one with great emotion, dramatic color, and a connection to the world around us.

I have been asked a few more questions. So, I will do my best to answer those questions here.

 

We have talked about what inspires me. Where I get my ideas from. What has attracted me to the style of painting I do.

What's next for Jean Hart Artwork?

Yes, that's the question I'm being asked.

Even before I have had the reception for this newest show!

Well, here it is.

There is a certain, let down, if you will, after the completions of a large body of work.

I've been working on the Element show for the last 8 months.

I thought I would take some time off. ....NO just kidding....

 

Exhibition are only part of what Jean Hart Artwork does.

I have just refreshed  my card racks with new note cards, key chains, magnets, to keep everything new and exiting.

Over the years I have learned about marketing and advertisement. I would like to expand

 Jean Hart Artworks to be an ART Agency for new and emerging artist.

 

Jean Hart Artwork, has also taken on a new Photographer, Kerry Hart.

 I will be marketing his photos of amazing landscapes of Nevada.

 

For me personally as an artist. I will continue to paint each day. Write my blog  http://jeanhartartists.blogspot.com/

on Art History, spot light new emerging artists,

critique artwork on ArtCanyon Art Galley, where I am an administrator.

This Fall I plan on making a new book with my artwork.

I will also be starting a new BOOK Club Blog called,

"Invisible Women" coming this fall.

A Shifting Propective

A Room With A View
 

Shift, yes, maybe it's time to shift your prospective.

Imagine all the possibilities in your day that you may not see if you didn't shift your eyes.

move your head,  balance on one foot, and turn around.

Perspective is a shifty thing. All the lines can be measured perfectly but something may feel off.

Check where are you standing. Do you need to move?

Art is funny that way too, just like life. Sometimes everything seems perfect, a good fit, lines are  straight, and just like that, everything is off balance.

Mindfulness, too is like that. Sometimes you feel like you have all you need, or too much or simply not enough. Yes, too much of a good thing will put you off balance to.

When my routine is disturbed, I get a little off balance.

Sometimes I have even had to do a do over in the morning, only it's later that day. Go back to what I missed in the morning that threw me off.

The crazy thing is that there are no two days the same. Not even if you do the same things each day.

You are not the same person you were yesterday that you are today.

It is truly up to you how you handle shifting.

You have a new art exhibit coming up, titled "Elements", can you tell us something about it?

Yes, I'm very excited about this exhibit. I belong to a group of artist who have been painting together for about six years. We named ourselves "4women Art"

This will be are third show we have done at the Northeastern Nevada Museum.

This year, Dee Burton, pick the theme, Element. The elements are our interpretation of

 Air, Water, Fire, Earth, and Spirit.

With the exception of all of us using the same size canvas, we were set loose to paint whatever the elements meant to us.

As a group, we painted each week together and encouraged each other with ideas and techniques.

The best part of being a painter with such a group like this, is that we can depend on each other to be honest when we critique each others work. We are still learning and moving forward with our mediums and techniques.  So painting together helps to stretch us as artists.

Can you tell us about one piece of artwork that you worked on?

Well, I love them all. But I think my favorite is my spirit painting.

It was the first one I painted. It was also the painting that has the newest technique I'm learning. Spirit can be such an ethereal subject. Stretching your vision to be able to paint something that usually does not have an image to it can be difficult.

With this new technique I think I was able to go a little farther today with my artwork then I had in the past. So this painting became a leap of faith. I picked the colors that were peaceful to me and then just started to splash around until My Gaia came forth.

The painting title is "Gaia", can you tell us what that means?

I love Greek mythology. Through my studies, Gaia, has come up. Gaia, is the ancient Greek goddess of the earth, mother of Titans.

She is the Mother of the earth, sky, mountains and sea. So, for me to paint a "spirit" painting I felt she was the one who represented "Spirit" best.

Gaia, came onto the canvas pretty much on her own. She presented herself and I just went with it. This painting was not a struggle. It flowed easily I think because of the technique of very thin paint flowing and dripping on the canvas.

This is my favorite simply because I allowed her to reveal herself in the painting, I allowed her to become the divine inspiration for the painting.
