Creating your perfect studio

Creating your Perfect Studio
What does it take to make the perfect space for you to create your masterpiece?
There are lots of ideas in art magazines that can help you with this.
I have been trying for what seems like years to get my studio together. I use the word studio loosely here because what my studio is, is is a small bedroom in my home.
For years I painted on the dining room table. Each night putting everything away so we could have dinner on the table. Then I moved to a small card table, this I did not have to put away each night.
Once my daughter moved away from home I converted her bedroom to my studio/guest room.
It's really not easy to stay focused and be productive when your art supplies are all over the place.
It's so important to be comfortable in your space. Open the windows for light, get shelves up and  organize your art material, turn the heat up when it's cold.
The BIGGEST THING IS..When I'm painting in my studio I am not to be interrupted.
I do not have a computer in there, TV or my phone.
The best way for me to stay focused is to use my egg times for 60 min.
That's 60 min. of uninterrupted time to paint.
Do I listen to music?
Surprise, I listen to NPR radio.
I say paint, wherever you can, whenever you can. The most important thing is to paint each day. I try to do a little pencil work each day.
Practice, practise practise.
Not every painting will be framed. With me only one out of nine is framed.
Things to consider:
  1. Natural light. Open the curtains let the sun shine in.
  2. Work Space. Table, comfortable chair, plenty of room for an easel.
  3. Organization. You have to be able to find your art material quickly.
  4. Inspiration. Music, candles, flowers. Whatever it takes for you to be motivated and want to be in this space.
  5. Clean Up. Yes, you must clean up after each painting session. Nothing will kill the mood of painting then a messy table.

Day 4 to a more magnetic life

28 days to a more magnetic life
by
Sandra Anne Taylor
Day 4
Going North, acrylic, jean hart

Personal Power
Oh, I tell you this day could not have come at a better place in my life. I am preparing for an art show, I am the Featured Artist at the ECAC.
As it turns out the gallery director has given me full range of publicity. There budget is small and doesn't cover promotions. So, am I to not market this event, or am I to step up and make a few things happen?
It takes courage and confidence to assume the power in your own life. So, today I will be writing up an article for the newspaper, Making postcards to invite everyone to the reception and anything else I can think of.
Sandra says, "If you let others control key issues, you allow them to direct your energy and destiny, too."
 Intentions for today.
"Today I intend to live in my true power, to make choices and take action on my own behalf. I have the right to possess the real power in my life."
Well said. So it's time to become more self- actualized. This does not mean arrogant or demanding, just more focused and sure abut the direction I want to go in.
Activities for Enhancing person power.
1. Choose to empower yourself now. Live with integrity, strength, and discipline as you go about the many decisions of your day. From choosing what you prioritize to how you interact with others, allow yourself to be mighty!"
Well, okay, it will start today. There are a lot of strong, powerful words there. I think I will have to read that several times today.
Personal Power Affirmations
"As I live in my personal power, I become more and more conscious of my own needs. I am more self-directed  each day."

My list today looks like this:
1. prioritize my to do list for this up coming event.
2. write a article for the newspaper.
3. paint a new Raffle painting for the show.
4. Because I'm a little old school, I will read, write and recite the affirmation. It's really a strong one.
Because of the Thanksgiving holiday, I may just sit with this one for a day or so. Personal Power, it's a big one and I don't want to blow through it too fast.
So I will leave you with these words from Mike Dooley,
"Talk a little, sing a lot,
walk a little, dance a lot,
smile a little, laugh a lot,
dream a little, live a lot."

Day 2 to a more magnetic life

Day 2
to a more magnetic life
by Sandra Anne Taylor

Wild Hearts, acrylic, by Jean Hart
Releasing Negativity
I have always believed that what you think is what will happen.
Many times I have thought I just can't do something. Long before I knew what negative thoughts were or that a positive attitude could change your life.
Intentions
for this day are to notice your thoughts, feel them. Ask yourself are they true? Are they helping you? Do you believe them? Okay, those are my questions. I have read many books about thoughts, depression, negativity thinking, and well this too is helpful.
Reflection
Sandra writes, "Instead, simply notice when your mind is moving in an anxious direction, then gently release any assumptions of fear or doubt. Whatever may be going on, open your heart and mind to more relaxing conclusions, and know that a better outcome is on the way."
Taking action
"Breath deeply and as you exhale, affirm that you're letting go. say, I don't have to choose this reaction any longer."
My actions
Daydreamer, pastel, Jean Hart

Again, I say, take time to daydream.....for me, sometimes I get overwhelmed with work, my body aches, and family stuff. Sometimes I just have to nap. Yes, I said NAP. It seems that if I pose a problem just before I nap, and I'm talking about 20-30mins. I feel better about it when I wake up.

 Affirmations for shifting negativity
"My thoughts have real power in my life, and I always choose to have power over my thoughts."
So, like I said I can't just type out all of what she writes. Some of this is stuff I know already so I looked up something I found help full for me.
TED Talks. I love them, I listen to many and I share the ones that have helped me.
Ask yourself, Can our bodies change our minds? Can you fake it until you make it? or should you fake it till you become it?
click on to the link and find out.

What's on my list for today?
1. I will be writing out my affirmation 50 times. First, I like to hand write stuff because I'm working on better penmanship, and it helps to use my hands.
2. I will pose a anxiety I'm feeling and create a better daydream so the out come is more positive.
This will only take 15 mins.
3. I will walk into my studio standing in a V position, arms up, chin up and say lets get to work!!!

A Shifting Propective

A Room With A View

Shift, yes, maybe it's time to shift your prospective.
Imagine all the possibilities in your day that you may not see if you didn't shift your eyes.
move your head,  balance on one foot, and turn around.
Perspective is a shifty thing. All the lines can be measured perfectly but something may feel off.
Check where are you standing. Do you need to move?
Art is funny that way too, just like life. Sometimes everything seems perfect, a good fit, lines are  straight, and just like that, everything is off balance.
Mindfulness, too is like that. Sometimes you feel like you have all you need, or too much or simply not enough. Yes, too much of a good thing will put you off balance to.
When my routine is disturbed, I get a little off balance.
Sometimes I have even had to do a do over in the morning, only it's later that day. Go back to what I missed in the morning that threw me off.
The crazy thing is that there are no two days the same. Not even if you do the same things each day.
You are not the same person you were yesterday that you are today.
It is truly up to you how you handle shifting.

People ask me why I paint???

WHY DO I PAINT?????

People ask me why I paint???
I think it's a silly question, but, they look so serious when they ask me.
I think it's because as a child I was very shy. Words would not come to me. I think in a different life I expressed myself more clearly and concise.  Now as an adult words are flying all around me and my paintings help to express them in a more flowing and comprehensive way.
I paint because it's fun. Because it makes me feeling free. I paint my life mostly. If you are in my life, and some how have made an impression on me, there's a good chance that you will find yourself in one of my paintings. Of course, I will never tell.
I love to hear how people relate to my paintings. What they see, what they feel.
I paint with my soul of curiosity. I paint what I like and I put words to the painting that inspire me.
I hope people like what I do, enjoy the artwork and connect to it.
But if not, well, that's fine too. My job is simply to create. Not judge it, change it to fit someone else ideal of art or impress you.
The artwork is mine to share with you.
Paint your toes, your house, your face. Paint pictures of your family and your life.
Just create and express yourself. That's what I do.
Painting is part of my healing. It was there when nothing else was. It gave me a way to express my pain, and my love, and my life.
I paint everyday. I read about art everyday. I look at artwork everyday.
Art is my life, I am art.

Are you feeling inside the circle, or do you hang outside the circle?

Blue Monday
Blue Monday, circles, by artist
Jean Hart

Circles, awe, what can I say about circles?
Circles are everywhere, mostly circles are about cycles. No ending, no beginning......
But not when you paint them. There is a beginning, and hopefully the ending,  if your lucky will match up with the beginning again.
Are you feeling inside the circle, or do you hang outside the circle?
My circle, your circle, inside the circle of trust, circle of friends....it goes on, on, and on....
Beware of running around inside the circle's, because a circle once inside can trap you in and hold you there.
I have painted a lot of circles. When I went through a period of mandala paintings. All the mandala paintings are circles.
Circles will make you crazy, but Mondays will make you manic.

Blessed....What are merciful actions?

HEALING.....
SOMETIMES IT TAKES
EVERYONE TO HELP.
I was given a set of healing cards. They are so beautifully written.
By Caroline Myss and Peter Occhiogrosso
After I have pulled a card and sat with it for awhile, I like to try to give images to the words.
"Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
Mercy is a rare word, one hardly spoken. What are merciful actions?
Not judging another; speaking with kind words;
thinking compassionate thoughts about others.
May acts of mercy
come your way.
The first saying, from Psalm 41 of the Hebrew Bible or Old Testament, offers an astute psychological insight that is recognized increasingly today. Absorption in our own troubles, or in our unending need for gratification, creates a negative momentum that can lead not only to Narcissus, but to addictive and high-risk behavior as well. When we move the focus of our attention from ourselves to others, we also remove an enormous burden from our backs. The need to satisfy our unrealistically high expectations. As the Dalai Lama might put it,
 compassion is its own reward."
Well, there is it. So well put that I can not offer another word.

~Jean

create, you can, you do

CREATE
CREATE something from nothing, something wonderful, beautiful, something with your hands.
Create a garden big or small, something the butterflies will want to come and visit you in.
Create a song while you are cleaning, or bake a new dish.
So many times I hear people tell me, "I'm not creative", I can't draw or cook, or paint."
I say, you are creative in everything you do, everyday in your live.
I love wearing scarfs, but for the life of me, I tell my daughter every time I wear one, "I can't tie it right!!!" Thankfully, she shows me again, and again, and again. I'm getting better. She creates the folds so gracefully.
You can do it, you all ready do.

The Month of May, Guess who's birthday it is on the 18th?

May's Aspects

May Flowers, acrylic, Jean Hart
I love May.
Tulips are coming up and I even see green grass!!
The month of May was named after the goddess Maia, the goddess of spring, she who brings forth life. Appropriately enough, it became the month of the Virgin Mary, Mother of God.
Full moon aspect: Hare moon or frogs return moon.
Universal event: Flowers coming forth, the potential for creation of the new harvest.
Communal event: the May Eve festival initiates this month, but no other Sabbaths occur. This is still a month for chastity and cleaning up one's life. Making trysts, commitments, or marriages is not allowed, because the month of the queen of May is unlucky for tying the knot.
Message: To propagate or not, to enjoy sex or be celibate. your choice.
activity: Sexual encounters or complete abstinence
Healing properties: Fevers and infections.
Color: Hazel, pink
Tree: Hawthorne
Flower: Lily
Creature: Magpie, dove
Gem: Emerald
From:The Grandmother of Time
May is also the month that I will be participating in an
Invitational art exhibit.
Highland Estates, May 10 - 18, 2013
Six original fine art for sale.
I invite you to join me if you are in Elko, NV

DAYDREAMING
PASTEL
29x35
$500.00
Just one more fun little bit before I leave you to plan your month of May.
May 18, Feast of Pan, (Greek)
On this day, women and men celebrate men.
Pan is all that is male in the universe. Pan is represented by a wild, but good-looking man, not your deodorized modern type. He has hooves because many of the male animals he represents in nature have hooves. He has horns for the same reason: He is hairy, and he usually sports an erect penis. He plays the flute divinely. He is the son of the Earth. He is not a patriarch who oppresses women. He is, however, all male.
Pan likes parities with wine, song, and women. Invoke him in some wild place or burn patchouli on your altar in his honor. He is not that of a warrior but of the lover. Give a party for men today. Let the men define this,
What is manhood without violence or competition?
Well, I do love Greek mythology. There is another Greek story I love, you can visit my blog for that one. Psyche and Eros

SOUL COACHING DAY 28

SOUL COACHING
DAY 28
EARTH WEEK
Today is the last day......it's been a great 28 days.
I'm just a bit sad....but then again, so many things have changed.
The last day was awesome.
Creating a circle of love, preparing a alter, and, finding my center.
If I was to pick the best week, I could not. Each week delivered its own challenges and surprises.
I grew leaps and bounds.
Earth week came with the most important career decisions and opportunities.
Having gone through the first weeks allowed for me not to panic and make a sound decision. One that really reflected me.
Today's affirmation
"I give love deeply and fully. I receive love deeply and fully. My essence is love."
I asked that I could open myself up to trust more, live fuller, and love completely.
New people came, old ones left and those who are still standing at the sidelines are still waiting for something to happen.  They missed it!!!
I sent my postcards to France for the mail art exhibit, "How Do You See Disabilities in the World?'
Looking back on the time of my injury give  me so much to be grateful for. While I'm not yet where I once was, I am no longer as disabled as I once was either.
Reminding myself everyday that my life is getting better, healthier, happier and stronger.
On this last day of Soul Coaching, I did level 3
Go to the Center of Your Being.
Honestly, it's long, so here is my take on it.
Put the music on LOUD, MOVE YOUR BODY, ROUND AND ROUND, SHAKE, DANCE, AND FEEL THE RHYTHM OF THE MUSIC.
Then stop, turn the music off, close your eyes, and go to the center of your being.
Feel all the emotions of the last 28 days, all the feelings, and all the coincidence's you have had.
You made it through what I think was a very intense 28 days of soul coaching.

From Day 1 to Day 28
I can see the transformation.
I loved this book.

How Do You See Disability in the World?
I just sent out my postcards for this mail art exhibit in France.
The Brain;
Jean's Health Journal
Everything is connected and run by the brain.
It is the brain that's sends messages to all parts of the body by way of the nerves.
But, and this is where I'm at, if the vertebrae are out of place, the nerves will be injured, and that means the brains messages can not get through. No messages, no life energy and dis--ease will happen....Pinched nerve, back pain, sickness.....the list goes on and on, you get the messages.

The Girls,

I have invited the Angels, Guides, and all healers into my life to help heal me. These are the top charka Girls.

...
"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable." Helen Keller.

Now I ask, with all she had to endear How did she keep such a positive attitude?
I will be reading more of her story and words of encouragement

Plugged In,

I listen to Meditation tapes by Glenn Harrold. I recommend all of his tapes. Since I am on a healing path, my routine is 10min walking, 20min ice and 40 min rest I have lots of time to listen to these tapes. I draw these pictures free hand and when they are done I try not to be to critical because these are not meant to be professional pieces sold or exhibited. But because I'm healing and these are emotional I can look at them and see that I am off balance. As an experiment it will be interesting to see how they develop in the next 10 weeks.

Looking up!! from my health journal Those who know me know how lucky I am. How I find lucky pennies all the time. Well yesterday I saw a penny and could not pick it up, no bending ya know, so I had Kerry pick it up for me......Later Matt said, "Maybe it's time to start looking up!!!" I just love the way he thinks.~Jean

Here's what you don't know about having a lower back injury. YOU CAN'T BEND FORWARD!!! Now just think about all the things you do bending forward!!! Seems I can't hang on to anything either and everything is falling to the ground. So when I drop something I say "Darn I dropped that!!!" and move on. Soul Coaching, Earth week, day 27

Soul Coaching
day 26
Earth Week
See I told you I was alittle pale looking this week.
It's only 9:30 and I'm flying around already!!! I 'm cleaning up the house, making lists, shopping for my party tomorrow night......Mary Kay party.....
Earth Week has shaken me up a bit. I'm feeling better and that's good. Still on ice and my massage was canceled, :-(( so I'm working out the kinks myself.
Today is one of my favorite days. Creating a home for the Soul.
My assignment for myself today is looking up URN's. Yes, that's right. It will be the home of my ashes, not my soul. But I want to pick it out and save it for when I need it later......:-)).
Level 2 assignment is to create a place in your home for your soul. That means find a place in your home that is just for you.
Day 27
I was so busy yesterday that I had to stop blogging.  And so now I'm onto day 27.
This week has been amazing. Totally amazing!!!
I'm feeling better, and what still hurts I can deal with.
Unbelievable opportunities have opened up for me this week. I almost missed them because I didn't want to be bothered. There's a lesson in that I'm sure.
Today on this 27th day I'm feeling optimistic about everything.
Today is about creating a Fabulous future.
I wrote down 10 things down that I want in my future. Some I have been working on for awhile but the timing is now.
A great question my son Matthew came up with and asked me is.
"What will you do today to make you happy in the future?"
It goes so perfectly with today. That is why I'm feeling so good. I feel like YES, I am on the right  path. Finally, things are being brought together and my ideas are starting to find a home.
Today's affirmation;
"My future is filled with love, joy, and peace!"
I have a new calmness to me. Here's the thing, I have ideas, maybe 1000 a day. I have a notebook I write them all in. Not all are great or even doable. But, I write them in anyway. The second part is making a plan to execute them. And that is what today is all about.
So today, "Act today in accordance with whom you desire to be tomorrow. Tomorrow's future is being created today, and today is yesterday's future...."
I so love this book, Soul Coaching, 28 days to discover your authentic self, by Denise Linn.
I'm thinking of creating a little workshop to engage other women to join in to create their own authentic self.
I plan on calling this group, a safe place to share, encourage, inspire women to be the best selves they can be.
"The Invisible Women Club"
What would you do if you were not invisible?
Personable, I have felt invisible for many years. Even though I am active, available, and involved. There are many things I have not done simply because I did not have the courage to do so. It is time to act like a Visible Women.

I invite you to join in with me.

SOUL COACHING Day 25

SOUL COACHING
DAY 25
Soul Coaching book by Denise Linn

Earth week has been tough for me, not because it's hard, but because I have not been feeling so great this week.
Finding the wisdom to stick with this program this week has been hit and miss.
My philosophy that I started to take up was start saying Yes to things that come my way.
I'm finding that difficult. I missed a few opportunities this week, to make a new friend, coach someone alone, and start up a business.
When I'm not feeling well I do not think clearly. I do not think at all. Going back to correct these things seems, risky. If my first thought was to say no, was it my intuition or me just not wanting to deal with it?
Today's affirmation:
"I am in harmony with the natural rhythm of life."
Yes, I will have to repeat this one many times today.
Today's activities:
Be aware of the rhythms of nature in all its forms around you, from the rising and setting sun. ....
It's windy today, so I'm hoping that the winds will blow this very low mood I'm in far far away....
I love this book,
only 3 more days to go.....again no picture of me today, still looking pale....

Technical Tuesday still life

TECHNICAL TUESDAY

well technically this will not be a "Technical " instruction day.
Mothers Day is coming up and so I have started to paint flowers.
I went to my local craft store and found drawing paper in 5 x 7 pads. I thought wow, this is great, they were already cut for me, in canvas for acrylic, pastel and colored pencil.
I brought out all my colored pencils and started to put together a little still life of flowers.
Today you will be doing the same.
Really think about what kind of flowers YOU LIKE. I find it easier if you like what you are going to draw.
I start with the size and shape of the vase.
pencil in the flower placement.
Pick out a color scheme that is complementary.
I usually work from top to bottom, and with pencil front to back.
Meaning that my background is usually the last thing I draw.
Have fun with this, it's not meant to be hard.
For me this whole painting was imaginary, but if you need to look at something by all means bring out your flower photos.
Have Fun,
