I'm working on a series of small 5" x 7" drawing for the "Blue Moon" series.
It's for a mail Art program I'm registered in.
Blue Moon Stepping Stones,
Reminds of the strength it takes to go it alone. One step at a time. Solo. No one else can take these steps for you. When you are ready, and sometimes even before you think you can. You must try. Whatever it is. Only you can make the decisions for you to move forward. Because as you can see standing still will soon have you in deep water.
Solo, somethings you must do alone.

People ask me why I paint???

WHY DO I PAINT?????

 

People ask me why I paint???

 I think it's a silly question, but, they look so serious when they ask me.

I think it's because as a child I was very shy. Words would not come to me. I think in a different life I expressed myself more clearly and concise.  Now as an adult words are flying all around me and my paintings help to express them in a more flowing and comprehensive way.

I paint because it's fun. Because it makes me feeling free. I paint my life mostly. If you are in my life, and some how have made an impression on me, there's a good chance that you will find yourself in one of my paintings. Of course, I will never tell.

I love to hear how people relate to my paintings. What they see, what they feel.

I paint with my soul of curiosity. I paint what I like and I put words to the painting that inspire me.

I hope people like what I do, enjoy the artwork and connect to it.

But if not, well, that's fine too. My job is simply to create. Not judge it, change it to fit someone else ideal of art or impress you.

The artwork is mine to share with you.

Paint your toes, your house, your face. Paint pictures of your family and your life.

 Just create and express yourself. That's what I do.

Painting is part of my healing. It was there when nothing else was. It gave me a way to express my pain, and my love, and my life.

I paint everyday. I read about art everyday. I look at artwork everyday.

Art is my life, I am art.

Soul Coaching, Fire week

FIRE!!!

what I thought was going to be a fun week, so Denise says in the first pages of fire week, and I quote from the book, "Have Fun!"

Well, yes I did have fun, and I did get organized and yes I did create some awesome artwork. But, I would like to also say, "What a crazy week!!!"

Facing my shadow self was not fun, she came at me from no where and held on to me for the entire week.

Examining my fears, was no surprise except to learn that I have passed a few of them and left them behind. That was fun to know.

Changing my routines and habits. Oh, fun, fun, fun. New hair style, new ways to wear a scarf, and considering a new decorating scheme.

But the image of pretending  "your dead"...well, interesting, hance the back of my head picture. Because of that days activity, I made a "will". Guess who's getting my cat's?......You will just have to wait until my will is read.

This week too, I finished my 'FIRE" painting for the element art exhibit.

It's been a big week, lots of things got done.

Still cleaning, clearing and I have a to do list that has tripled.

Before and After  and now you can really see my vision for Paris.

Last day of FIRE, I look pretty good. May I just say, not so easy taking picture of yourself. I'm just saying....I love my kindle.

I love this little book. Make no mistake in thinking that these little activities are easy. They are anything but easy and some are more time consuming then others.

The Harmany of art and spirit

WASSILY KANDINSKY (1866-1944)

Wassily Kandinsky is known as one of the founding fathers of abstract art, by distorting realities of the physical world, more of what he was trying to create was  a spiritual encounter by way of the colors and shapes he employed in his art.

He is a Russian artist only after he attended the University of Moscow where is studied law and economics and eventually taught.

In 1911, he co founded a Munich artists circle, Der Blaue Reiter, or The Blue Riders, whose members shared an idea that art could share i a interconnectedness of art and spirituality.

Kandinsky's name has been associated with "Improvisations," "Impressions," and Compositions." art styles.

Notable works" Composition V, 1911; Painting with Green Center,  1913; Yellow, Red, Blue, 1925.

I have been influenced greatly by Kandinsky's work. Many of my Kaleidoscope paintings come from his artist blending of art and spirit.

Where do the invaluable mental powers of creativity and imagination come from?

How is the imagination involved in experiences of art?

"The world is but a canvas to the imagination."

Henry David Thoreau

Creativity, where does it come from? Creativity is used to come up with new ideas, making it possible for us to connect dots and conception. Does it come from a mystical energy, metaphoric or intellect? Creativity and imagination both are of the same mind. Left brain, right brain, for me working together creates a new body of work. Often just a spark of an idea can take off by expanding through the thought process. I like to ask the questions, "What if...?'  What if I use a different color, size, shape. All of that goes into building  one idea that can change the whole concept of a painting.

Now, once the painting is completed, I find that the "Title" is where the explanation of the painting comes in. I do not like to explain more then the title to people. By saying anything more limits the experience that people are having with the painting.

It's important for people to have their own dialog with the painting.

Today's Challenge is from

"The Artist's Muse"

"Place an assortment of found objects on the surface of your paper. Use, rice, metal rings, keys, spaghetti, and interesting shapes. Spray around these objects with gesso watered down to the consistency of skim milk. Let dry. Use this as the surface for your painting."

 

Now let your mind wonder and stretch to build up a interesting painting of your own creation using your imagination.

Blue Monday-finding sublimity in our surroundings

Blue Monday

Rise and shine!

It's Monday.

Raise yourself out of the past and into a new day.

Look who has come to join me for breakfast.

It's hard to feel too blue when I look out my window and see this.

How can you not look at nature and not be inspired?

Walt Whitman said,"A morning glory at my window satisfies me more than the metaphysics of books."

What would the landscape look like without nature. Surely what would artists paint, photographers shoot or poets write about.

Here's a thought for today.

Without nature what would the major master pieces of artwork be?

Nature is everywhere, landscapes, seascapes, animals.

Now think, what is the rest of the artists painting if not nature?

My guess is the relationship people have to nature, abstract, man-made structures and feelings.

Nature has colors and shapes we can all relate to easily. Without too much thought we recognize trees, mountain, oceans.

A question for today,

Why do humans feel so moved and inspired by nature?

Today's challenge is for you to draw something in nature to moves you in an inspired way.

Today's question is

Can the creation of art add meaning to a person's life?

Jean Paul Sartre,

"If literature isn't everything, it's not worth a single hour of someones trouble." -Sartre

Jean Paul Sartre was a famous 20th century philosopher, a French Existentialist.

In his philosophy he was aware of the power of images on people's beliefs. Sartre sees art as an intellectual pursuit and believes, "that every artist must commit to bettering society and taking responsibility for his or her work".

I agree with this statement. I have always believe artists can paint and record history. I too believe there is so much power in images. I do not like to have to explaine my artwork because by doing so it really takes away their own experience of the art. Each person is drawn to art and images by their own emotions. 

Once you have painted a picture, it lives on in the minds of those who have viewed it long after the artist has moved on.

Creating beauty, with meaning.
