My son Matthew has collected coins with me since he was very young and because coins are  so fascinating he has continued collecting coins as an adult.

Matthew shares interesting information about coins on his YouTube channel.

I invite you to click below and watch one of his videos.

Starting again

Jean Hart Artwork

This has been a crazy Spring so far this year, lots of rain and wind.

ArtoMat has just sent me a box of 100 blank wooden blocks to paint.

Each new season brings a new box of blank blocks. I'm never sure exactly what I will paint until I go through a ritual of cleaning off the desk, straitening all the paints and brushes and getting to prepared for the day of painting.

These blocks have now been sent off to a Artomat machine near you, hopefully.

So, if you purchased one of these original pieces of artwork, I'd love to hear from you.

Thank you everyone is who being watchful at this time.
I have never lived under such a stressful time as a pandemic.
My family and myself are staying home and finding that during this time it has been a time of connecting with our families.

computers to help us reach out to others.
I'm taking this time to complete some long awaited projects I felt I never had enough time to do.
Researching subjects I have always wanted to know about.
Plus, I have registered for a online course.
My prayers are that everyone stay safe, keep up the social distancing as much as possible, and, be well.
Stop by here when you can, share your blogs here, and let's keep are minds active and our sprites high.

Sacagawea Dollar Coin - Why 17 Stars? You Answered

Jean Hart Artwork

I love coin hunting.
I did this hobby with my father when I was younger.
I remember fondly  many nights sitting at the dining room table going through coins and hoping to find one I could put into the coin books.
This is a great hobby to share with your kids.

~P is for Play

 Week Seventeen

"We lose ourselves in the things we love. We find ourselves there, too.  ~Kristin Martz

If we took a moment to remember what it was that took up our time when we were children I think we would find ourselves again.
When I remember the times sitting in my room with a pencil drawing and doodling time just flew by. I was always inspired by my art teachers and often went home to recreate a project I had learned in school.

Art Project for P:

Papier-mache
Materials.
newspaper
glue and water
balloon
paint

1. Tear strips of newspaper.
2. Blow up the balloon
3. Fill a bowl with water and glue,
until the consistency is thin and milky
4. Completely cover the strips with the glue mixture
5. Lay the newspaper strips over the balloon .
Repeat this until the balloon is completely covered.
6. Let the balloon dry
7. Stick a pin the balloon until you hear it pop.
8. Now use the paint to decorate the balloon.
9. Glue the bottom of the balloon to a paper place to use as a stand .
Now you have a papier-mache statue.
Use your imagination to change the shape of the balloon before you
papier-mache and paint.

Writing Journal :
Power words for P

1. Think about all the P power words you can think of
Write each word followed by a exclamation point!!!
2. Take out your journal and write 10 of these power words down.
3. Select three of the words that you feel a connection with from your list and commit to making those changes in the next month.
What is something you could do once a week that would me you feel
 P say powerful?

P is for Play

What comes to your mind when you say Play.
There are so many P words that make you want to play.
This week it's up to you how you want to play.
Do you play an instrument?
Can you bake a pie?
Maybe you would like to go outside and plant something.
The playing is limitless and Powerful.
Once you start thinking of p words you will found that most p words are about playing and experiencing new things.
This is where you will find yourself, in the playing

After this week I'm sure you will be
playing with more imagination!

As always have fun with these activities.

I would love to start having conversations about your ideas when you did one of the activities.

Life sure looks different today, and will for the next three weeks.
My family, being of a higher age group will be spending our days together at home.
We are prepared to be self contained but I have to say it's a lot easier having a computer,
TV,  and my phone at our disposal. It makes us feel less isolated.
During this time I've have decided to take a few online courses to keep me busy and not go a bit stir crazy.
I will also be continuing my workshop
Creative Living A-Z
You can find those beginning workshops in the past blogs .

Love Inspires

Living a life of friendliness and love will help to inspire you to live a life of compassion, hope and joy.
Life is so much more meaningful when we share it with someone else. Often we sit and wait for what will come ahead only to finally get it!! Your future lies deep within yourself. It's way down deep where you keep your dreams. The true life is what happens when you decide its time to act upon those dreams and know, really understand that everything is up to you to make the future happen. And just like Abraham Lincoln said, "The best thing about the future is that it comes only one day at a time." So just take it one step at a time.

Interview with an Artist

I bet you didn't know.....

Jean Hart Artwork

Fine Art for the finer things in Life

Welcome to my online store
at zazzle

I bet you didn't know

I bet you didn't know

A while ago I was tagged on Facebook, it said that someone had answered questions about me.
I popped in to see what they answered and just started to giggle...I just hate it when people say, "Oh, I know you." Nope, not even close. So here we go, I will tell you 10 things I bet you did not know about me and I invite you to tell me 10 thinks about you. This way when someone wants to say "I know you" they may actually know a little more about you.

10. I love cat, kittens, and wild cats. I have always had cats in my life and find them to be a comfort. True story, when I was preparing my art studio I wanted a studio cat. My son said, I want kittens. So together we sent out a message for  studio cat and kittens. What did we get two days later? A stray pregnant cat. Yeah, that's how the universe works. :-))

9. The best Christmas present I ever got was a kitchen cooking set. Came with tiny muffin pan, cake pans, small boxes of cake mix, spatula, etc. Wow, I loved it. Probably why I love to bake. But, now I don't eat sugar and have to come up with my own creative desserts.

8. Shopping.....My favorite shopping spree is spent on home decorations, kitchen tools, bedding and French and Italian soaps. And Shoes.
7. The best time of the day for me is 5-7 AM. Up with the sun, candles glowing and meditating, writing in my journal and daydreaming.

6. Going to Museums. This is kind of funny, me being an artist. I walk quickly through museums. I don't stop and ponder too much. In some strange way I'm thinking if I look too closely I might accidentally paint this and think its my own original idea. So, only if its the work of Masters do I linger.

5. I'm learning about art history, works of art leading up to abstract expressionism. Reading about how to analyze works of art and appreciate the artists process.

4. I have grown not to like ground Turkey meat......getting tired of pork....thank goodness BarBQ season is on it's way I do like BBQ Chicken...not crazy about fish.....Maybe innately I'm a vegetarian!

3. I take my Blood Glucose test every morning. Only just borderline diabetic, I watch my numbers and diet closely.

2. The best drink any time of the day or night is Coffee. Just found out that in France you do not drink coffee with dessert. This sadden me a bit.

1. I'm teaching myself French. Self taught through tapes, books and computer. This has been fun, my house looks a little crazy right now with post notes stuck to everything with its french name on them.

Well, there you go. Now you know 10 things I bet you didn't know about me.. It's your turn.

Sacagawea Dollar - What do you know?

Matthew's Back

Within life lies a chance to adapt..

Within life lies a chance to adapt..

Within life lies a chance to adapt..
With a New Year I always look to the past to see how I did last year and what I can do better this year.
Many things have change in my life in the last 12 years. I have had to adapt over and over again.
I am reminded of a quote I read from Don Bania, Jr.
"life is a precious gift..within every tragedy lies an opportunity".
It is so true, if I had not hurt my back and was forced to quit a job I loved, I would never have become an artist.
Over the years my artwork has taken on different styles, strokes, mediums and expressions.
I have no doubt that as I grow as an artist my artwork will expand and grow too.
When I first started I wanted to do portraits. I loved people and used my children as models.
I thought that I would be come a portrait artist.
As my interest in art grew I moved on the landscapes and birds..
After so many years of painting I'm still trying to decide what kind of artist I am.
My mediums change, my prospective have changed and my responsibility to art has changed.
Being a self taught artist means that I am constantly reading new books on art technique and art history.
What will I be doing this year, 2020?
I'm not sure......And that's what today's blog is about.
I will be adapting to a life of working full time as an artist. Up to now I have only seen myself as someone who likes art, plays around with paint, and has been pretty lucky to have a following of people like my art.
I have been given this chance to paint, once again because of recovery, and, I now must adapt again.
So to all the new friends I've made and people watching me, I say.
Sometimes change is a good thing.
I was reading Don's story, and at first you think how sad a young boy has a devastating motorcycle accident that leaves him paralyzed from the shoulders down. He goes into deep depression, and than comes out of it  saying."My brokenness made me aware of my desperate need for God."
He starts drawing, with using only his mouth to hold the pencil. Teaches himself to draw, he spends over 100 hours on one painting.
Well, I say, bravo, the human spirit will pull you through.
Accept the changes in your life, after you have fight against them and let your spirit shine.
Do you have a story that you would like to share?
Has something happened to you that made you adapt to a different life style?
Be Inspired,
~Jean
