Sweet Dreams
Lavender, Lavender, oh how I love Lavender.
I've have been clearing out the night stand next to my bed.
It's time to think about sleeping peacefully through the night.
It's the best thing about Fall coming.
While Fall is not here yet, I am gathering things to make the transaction from summer to fall in my home.
I looked up a couple of lavender recipes for sleep.

I found this beautiful pill box and thought it would be perfect for a lavender balm.
Mix petroleum jelly with a few drops of Lavender oil and fill the box.
Heat the jelly up but do not boil, drop in a few drops of oil, mix together and fill the box.
It's perfect for rubbing on your chest or temples just before you go to sleep.

Have fun with this, part of the fun for me was to find a old pill box, I'm on the hunt for a few more at my local antique store.
I'm thinking of using different scents of oils with this recipe.

Since I started to use lavender before I sleep I have been have marvelous dreams!~!
I started a dream journal just because what fun it has been to recall my dreams.

Creative Living A thru Z ~let the stories come to you

Creative Life A thru Z
H is for Honor Yourself
Week 9

Let Stories come to you.....You have a different story then anyone else.
Everyone has a story to tell, some are funny, sad, and unbelievable.
Whatever your story is , share it with people. Let the moments come and learn to share them.
I have two great stories I tell to inspire people who just meet me.
They are true stories, and maybe that's why they are so funny. They fall in the "You will never guess what just happened to me", category.
I've told them so many times that I have now learned where to pause, when to pitch my voice up, and most important when to stop.
It's entertaining, and always gets a laugh. But, most important it starts others to tell stories too.
Let the stories happen, and learn to tell them well.
What has happened to you lately?

Interview with an Artist
Question from
Psychology Students

" We are only limited by our own beliefs,  thoughts and, vision. " Jean Hart Artist
Welcome back to the Interview section of my blog.
I'm interested in Psychology, Philosophy,  Healing Arts and, living creatively.
Along with some of the questions you have sent me, I put together a few from the Psychology students I thought were interesting, and if I could have asked these questions of my mentors and teachers it would have been helpful.
  1. People regard you as a creative person. Do you agree? Please explain your answer.
Yes, I think I am a creative person. However, I also work at being creative. I work at being curious. Sometimes, I'm too much in my head about getting every little thing right that I forget the spontaneity of creating . For me becoming an artist was a career choice, which simply means I study art. I read about art. I read biographies about artists. I emerge myself in online museums.  I surround my self with news of art.
The creativity part come after the studying by asking different questions of yourself.

2. Looking at what you have created in the past, would you change anything today? Why or why not?
I would never think to change anything in the past that I have created.
A lot of my first works were pieces of healing. I had to go through that. Most people have not seen those.
Really, most of my artwork is not for the public to view. Only one in ten pieces make it to the framer, or display on my online store.
There will always be something I see in a painting or piece of creative work that I could have done better. That is the learning process, because next time, that will be better.

3. Have you ever felt enlightened by an event in the past that has given you a new perspective on life?

Life is full of huge events, and when something impacts me personally I may write in my journal, and take those feelings to an art project. That is part of the healing art process I have learn. You can take those feels and do many different art projects to express them. Think of all the humanities we have in the arts, writing, music, drama, cooking, singing....so many ways to express yourself.
Yes, I believe art changes your life.

4. If you could change one aspect of our society through your work, what would it be?

To help people understand that we are all connected. That emotions are the same in people everywhere. I want to encourage to people to share ideas, inspire people to have confidence, and, understand that we all want to love and be loved.  I have seen many pieces of artwork that have simply taken my breath away and I have left saying, "Yes, I want that."

5. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

OH, well I would live exactly where I live now. I like to travel, I see many places and when I was first retired I looked at these places and asked myself, could you live here? Truly, I could not. Where I live I experience all four seasons, my family is here, my home is here. After ten days of traveling I'm ready to come home to my studio, family and, cats.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Good Morning,

After the Solar Eclipse which was totally awesome. I needed some time to process what my astrological sign said was going to happen after the eclipse!

Taking Two Minutes In Nature to meditate on this is always a good idea.

~H is for Honoring Yourself

 Week Nine

My Heart, Jean Hart

"If you want to soar in life
you must first learn to F.L.Y.
(first love yourself).  Mark Sterling

Welcome back. It's a beautiful day where I live. It's August and still summer here.
I just couldn't handle the heat anymore,
so I honored  myself  by taking a trip to the beach.
H is for Honor Yourself
I was stumbling last week with H. I just couldn't come up with an activity to help my heart....Then this morning, this very morning it came to me.
Honor Yourself~Love Yourself~Respect Yourself
With the Solar Eclipse happening this Monday, the energy level all around is charged.
I looked up my astrological sign and it said I was in for a whole belief system transformation!!
I'm not sure I'm ready for that, but I certainly am ready for a change.
Last year I asked for a more "creative life"  and was given this opportunity after taking a healing arts class.
A creative life means different things to different people. In my life I wanted it to mean expansion of life, ideas, adventures. I also wanted my creative life to help me understand the moments in life and be grateful for them.
I almost panicked myself last week when I realized that it's peach season and I haven't made a single peach dish!! Then I took a big deep breath and saw that it's August and I have time.  Learning to stay present and
be still is a creative art.

Journal Assignment:
I asked a big question on the last blog yesterday.
What's the best part of your life right now?

Take some time a think about this.
It will help to keep you in the present moment,
not past achievements, or what's ahead of you.
Here is a Two Minutes in Nature video to help you be still and meditate this question on.
Two Minutes In Nature~Redwoods

Green is the color of the heart charka . When I was hiking in the Redwoods I filmed this  because the greens were so brilliant, so many different greens. I felt this redwood forest had to be one of the most healing places I have ever walked.

Art Journal Assignment:
Materials:
1. one heart cookie cutter
2. blank paper no lines
1. Take the heart cookie cutter and start tracing its shape. Make as many hearts as you want. Overlap them, keep the separate, turn them upside down.
You are only limited by your own imagination with this.
2. Write what you are grateful for in each heart.
3. Color in the hearts, fill the whole page with color.

 Activity:
I don't know how I can have a week of H without it meaning Home.
This week take a good look at your front door area.
Both inside the house and outside.
Does it look welcoming? Friendly?
Think of ways to clean up, clear up, and warm up this area in your home.
It soon will be fall, I'm planning on having a new Fall wreath this year. The one I've used for years is getting a bit old and dusty. I want to invite new energy into my home.

As always, have fun with this. Feel free to leave a comment, share, like and subscribe so you don't miss any of my post.

The Big Question

Falling In Love , Jean Hart

Big Question ???
What's the best part of your life right now?

Sometimes taking time to reflect on your life is the best way to judge how you are doing.
I know when I put deadlines on my calendar like appointments it keeps me on track.

The Creative Life A thru Z ~G is for Graciousness

The Creative Life A thru Z

 Week Eight

Grateful, by Jean Hart

G is for Gracious!!

What does being gracious mean?

According to the Word of the Day, which defines graciousness as :
  • pleasantly kind, benevolent, and courteous.
  • characterized by good taste, comfort, ease, or luxury:
  • gracious suburban living; a gracious home.
  • indulgent or beneficent in a pleasantly condescending way, especially to inferiors.
  • merciful or compassionate:
  • our gracious king
  • Obsolete. fortunate or happy.
I've been watching "The Crown"on Netflix.
While I didn't know much about Queen Elizabeth II,
I feel like I know her much better now. I can't get enough of the HRH and family.
I would say that after watching The Crown, Queen Elizabeth II was certainly the definition of Graciousness.

Writing Journal Activity:
I can not do a week of G's without gratitude, graciousness , and generosity.
I leave this up to you to write in your journals about what you are
grateful for,  gracious, and generous  about.

Outdoor activity:
It is summertime here where I live. On that thought I must get outside while the weather is nice, although a bit too hot. Soon Fall and Winter will be here and I will be under a blanket of snow.

"Earthing"
It's when you walk outside barefoot and make contact with the surface of the Earth. The electrons from the earth penetrates through the soles of your feet generating balance and good health.
I did it all the time as a young girl, but now it not only has a name, but a good reason for doing it.
Grass Walking
Let's get walking on the grass barefoot. The studies show that there are many good reasons for doing this for your health.
I started to do this, and I just thought this is fun, and what a great way to begin the day.
I went outside in the early morning,  and walking barefoot across my grass  I watched the sunrise.

I love technology, and because this is a internet blog I'm just going to refer you to a YouTube video on this subject, it will list all the benefits for walking on the grass barefoot.

I have one more fun Outside Activity.
Giggling
If you haven't been giggling lately you are missing out on the fun!
This activity works best with a few people in a circle, but if you're really self aware you can do this alone.
It's called Laughing Yoga.
You can just start with little giggles and work up to big belly laughing.
This too has great health benefits.

As always have fun with this.
