This weeks Art O Mat blocks shipping out.

It's kind of hard to paint for Fall when the Summer temperatures are in the high 90's.

It reminds me of an interview I heard with Elvis; 

he was singing a Christmas song in July.
 He asked to have snow falling in the studio, just to get him in the mood!!

I should probably go make some pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. 
You know, just to get in the mood.

The County Fair is not too far off.

People are growing vegetables, sewing crafts, and painting.

I've started to paint for the Fall season for Art O Mat. 

Pumpkins always say Fall to me. 

I'm thinking of baking for the fair this year.

Painting blocks for Art O Mat

When I paint for exhibits and shows and now merchandise I find that to be on top of the seasons I have to paint almost six months in advance.

So, its a beautiful summer day and I'm painting Fall paintings.

The harvest months will soon be here, Summer days will be shortened to soft breezes and the harvest will come in. 

Autumn comes with warm colors of red, yellow, and orange.

I just love summer. It's a time to sit outside and soak up the sun.

It's feeling a lot like spring where I live.

Spring Cleaning.....Yes, Yes, Yes,

Open the windows and let some fresh air in.

Part of being good to yourself is finishing what you start.

Basically, it comes down to finishing your chores.

For a very long time I never finished my laundry.

I would gather up the clothes, seperate them into darks and lights, put them in the washer, change them to the dry....and then go off and do something else.

They seemed to never come out of the dryer. I just could never complete this task.

It's a good metaphor for what was going on in my life.

I would start something, get busy, and not finish.

Needless to say, this led to a very unorganized studio.

So, for March my motto is 

"Clean up and Clear out and finish up"

I'm in the process of redoing my studio.

I'm sending most of my art supplies, paintings, and odds and ends to the community center. 

Tearing up the carpet, painting the walls.

I have a new goal.

My new art goal is to paint Art O Mat Blocks,

work with Zazzle to make fashion Designs, 

and prepare for retirement. 

Which means more travel.

Joy

It's the season for joy and  pleasure.

 What makes you feel joy? 

I think it's the feeling when your laughing and having fun.

It's the celebration of life.

For me, it could just as easily be sitting reading a good book,

listening to a favorite song or playing with my cats. 

It's saying yes to life even if it scares you, and your thinking "do I dare?".

Making everything in life count and meaningful. 

It's not easy to do all the time. But, the rewards for changing your view on your attitude will make all the difference. 

I think Joy and Pleasure are very similar.

My family again this year voted to not give gifts. 

Instead we adapted five families in our home town that were in need of a little help for their children's Christmas.

We went shopping and the amount of Joy we experienced while picking out toys and clothes for others was pure pleasure. 

The act of giving flowed through us and lightened our hearts. 

It is the season for giving, sharing, and loving. 

Give with an open heart.
