Interview With an Artist

What kind of music inspires you?

    Making of an Artist
with
Jean Hart
Good Morning,
you caught me early. Usually I'm checking my e-mails with my first cup of coffee.
The beauty of work from home, you can start when your ready.
I'm listening to my new CD from Joseph Carrillo. He is a composer from Elko, who now lives in Hollywood producing music. He composed original music for our 4 Women Art Exhibit.
"The Elements".
Grab a cup of coffee and listen to his music while we talk.

I am often asked if I listen to music while I paint?
Yes, I do.
I love all kinds of music and if it's a song I really connect with,
I will try to paint a picture that match's the song.
I have music on my TV so sometimes I put on New Age music.
If I'm writing, stories, poems, blogs, I will have music without words playing.
What kind of music inspires you?
Loud, jazz.
If I need inspiration then let it ripe, loudly and with lots of  drums. I like to hear a solid beat.
I just uploaded an app for playing piano. So, lately I have been listening to my own music.
Do you play the piano?
When I was younger I played the cello. I will often have cello music on when I'm alone.
No, I don't know how to play the piano, but with this new app it makes me sound like I do.
I also have a set of electric drums I like to pound on.
Time fly's when your being creative, playing music is just like painting.
Do I have a certain musician I like?
Oh gosh, there are so many great musicians I like.
For along time I was hooked on Toby Keith.
Then there is Melody Gardot.
Now that I have Pandora, I listen to Pink and India Arie.

French Kiss Life with Stationary...

French Kiss Life

This weeks practice is about hand written letters.
Well if you have been following me for any length of time. You know I'm all about writing letters.
I produce all kinds of paper merchandise with my artwork at my on line store,
It was my goal to have a stationary store.
I LOVE PAPER.
The art of writing a handwritten letter has gone by the way of e mails and texts.
Yes, I do them too. But every now and then a real letter is called for.
When should a real letter be sent?
All invitations of celebration and parties,
weddings, new babies, graduations, new addresses, thank you's .
Those are just a few .....
Correspondence is what it's called.
I'm reading a lovely book by Debbie Macomber
"Love Letters"
Love Letters are usually handwritten and found hidden away deep in the lingerie drawer.
If your lucky there might still be a scent of perfume and a smug of lipstick from the sealed kiss.
What a grand gift it would be to find a hand written letter that has been preserved for us over the years.
Most people when looking at the blank page of the note card. Wonder how will I fill this up, where should I begin? ....Well, start at the reason why you are writing. keep going until you are finished, then stop.
This is a nice beginning.....
"Time and Time again I've wanted to write to you, but every time I sat down to start I was interrupted by......But, now I have blocked out time just to talk to you....."

The Ending of a letter is just as important as the Beginning...
Is this a formal letter, and family and friend letter or are you telling someone how you feel by the last word next to your name.....
Sincerely, Affectionately, With love, With Much Love....Your Lover!!!

Maybe it's time to think about Personalized Stationary.
What will I be adding to my desk.
Personalized stationary,
Calling Card,
Business Card,
even Personalized Thank You Cards.

Does anyone still wear aprons?

Does anyone still wear apron?

Sarah gave me a wonderful apron for my birthday.....I wear it when ever I cook.
Then it reminded me I've been wanting an apron for a long time.

I'm baking homemade goodies for the county fair this year.
Lemon bars, Brownies, pecan bars, cookies maybe a cake ....we will just see how the practice ones turnn out. ...should be good.
Really is there anything more fun then whisking?
I was at a rummage sale last summer and came across a box of old patterns. There in the box with the envelope turning yellow and torn, was a pattern for an apron.

I don't think I have worn an apron since I was a kid learning to cook with my mom in the kitchen.

Oh yes, I did have to make an apron once in Home Eco. class. It was my first sewing project as well!! I believe it turned out fine and I wore it all through class that year.

It was an unexpected find and yes I did buy it and plan on making myself an apron.

I will be wearing it a lot since I have once again taken up cooking.

August Horoscope

August Horoscope
From
Horoscope from
Astro Twins

August is the month of passionate purification.
Dim the house lights and raise the velvet curtains…it’s Leo time! This month, several planets hold court in the sign of the Lion, bringing out our expressive, playful and even haughty sides. The Sun is here until August 23, with energizer Mars entering the mix from August 8-September 24. Mars only visits a zodiac sign every couple years, so tune into the colorful energy while it lasts. The red planet’s transit through Leo ramps up our sense of personal pride and it could also incite a few diva-style duels. Stand up for your principles and worth, but be careful not to slip into a “Don’t you know who I am?” attitude.
Leo is known for bold colors, big hair, ribald talk, sparkle and flash (which may or may not have substance to go along with it). Play up your individuality this month, but beware: In August, you’ll want to pause before making any dramatic changes to your style. Aesthetic Venus, the planet of beauty, good taste and love, is retrograde (backward) in Leo until September 6. The fashion police have fortified their troops, and they WILL be handing out citations. Hold off on that tattoo, coloring your mane or altering your appearance in any drastic way.
Venus turns retrograde every 18 months for six weeks, and it can also stir up trouble in your personal life—arguments with friends, slowdowns in relationships, second thoughts about love. You’ll need to tread lightly in the interpersonal affairs department to avoid burning bridges. It can also be a time for reunions with friends and even an ex—or to close the chapter for good. (See our tips for surviving Venus retrograde with your love live intact here.) Shore up some extra kindness and understanding now—the world will need it!
astrotwins-banners_videocourse-300x600The headline news arrives on August 11, when expansive Jupiter ends its 13-month tour of fiery Leo and moves into Virgo. Pioneering Jupiter is the planet of opportunity, abundance and new horizons. Jupiter entered Leo on July 16, 2014, highlighting themes of dignity, self-expression and beauty. And because Jupiter evolves us far beyond the familiar, the glamorous queen of the Leo parade turned out to be Caitlyn Jenner, who blazed a trail as a mainstream transgender superhero of sorts. Global, multicultural Jupiter in proud Leo demanded respect for all humans. During Leo’s reign of Jupiter, marriage equality became legal in all 50 U.S. states—so timely, since Leo rules the heart and true love. It wasn’t all flowers and formalwear, sadly. During this transit, we also experienced Ferguson, and the uprising around police brutality that sparked the #blacklivesmatter movement. The tragic Charlie Hebdo shooting occurred during this transit, too. While there’s still so much work to be done, Jupiter in courageous Leo certainly raised public awareness around race, violence and free speech.
Now, Jupiter moves into healthy, service-oriented Virgo—the sign of wellness, organization and thoughtful analysis—staying from August 11, 2015 until September 9, 2016. The “lights, camera, action” energy fizzles out and the vibe could get as quiet as an ashram. Over the next 13 months, our focus turns from selfish to selfless, as we seek ways we can make a difference in the wider world. Earth-sign Virgo governs sincerity and respect. It’s the post-hangover promise to clean up one’s act, because we’ve finally had enough revelry and excess. With Jupiter in Virgo, we’ll purify, simplify and be discerning with our choices.
Some astrologers believe this is a buzzkill for jovial Jupiter—but it doesn’t have to be. More than ever we need the world to embrace Virgo themes of eco-consciousness, service and vibrant health. Green is definitely the new black now. Jupiter only visits a sign every 12 years, and its last run through Virgo was from August 2003 until September 2004. Dial back to that era for clues of what may resurface. And consider how you might clean up your corner of the planet in the coming weeks, too.
While we remain in retrograde high season—Venus, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are all in reverse for August—there’s a bright spot on August 1, when tough Saturn turns direct (forward). Saturn has been retrograde since March 14, first in Sagittarius and then backing into intense Scorpio on June 14. Things have gotten intense, emotional and hair-raising for many people this summer, but now the worst is over. Have you learned important lessons about trust, betrayal, sex, power or sharing your energy and resources with quality people? (Here’s a look back at the lessons of Saturn in Scorpio, which began in October 2012:). Saturn will remain in Scorpio until September 17, then it won’t return until 2041. Whew! In the meantime, you could make some shrewd alliances—or enjoy a sultry summer affair—if you play your cards right.

Post Card USA Mail Art

Jean Hart Artwork
Jean Hart Artist

This is my next Mail Art Project.
While I was looking through the open Mail Art Projects I came across this one.
My Mother loved 29 Palms, she and my father owned a homestead there and worked on it each weekend until it became a 3 bedroom 2 bath, large home.
I will be honored to paint a post card and write a paragraph about what the desert means to me.

Wisdom for Healing cards

Today's card
Notice That Special Person
Today's Lesson:
On this day, take notice of someone whom you've previously ignored. That person is your teacher, your special angel, and he or she will do or say something you've been waiting for, just because you're recognizing the beauty of his or her spirit.
It has been a long time coming. To open my doors and let people in.
In preparation for the Full Blue Moon, I washed all my mirrors and widows in my entry way. Cleaned and polished all the doors and swung them open.
But, it was in cleaning my computer screen that opened up two new friendships ....
The self reflections of the shoes is about just that.
Could we be friends if you wore high heels and I wore flip flops?
Could we go to the same events?
There are many paths to becoming self aware.
Carl Jung has a blueprint of the levels for human existence:
The physical/material, the emotional, the mental,
and the spiritual.
Carl Jung felt that the only way to experience complete happiness was to have each level be balanced.
I have been working mostly on the physical and mental this last year.
Almost completely ignoring the emotional and spiritual level.
But, then again this is what life is all about......the constant improving and learning about ourselves.
My journal now has columns drawn in for each of these levels.
So which shoes do I walk in........
the ones that are most comfortable for me and the ones that are specific for my journey.
Your  Goal:
to see that everyone is capable of helping you heal, and vice versa.
My healers are many, and many of them do not even know each other.
I have a team I have built over the years that I rely on when I need specific help.
There are Doctors, Chiropractor, Nutritionist, massage therapist, instructors, mentor,
and life coaches.
Healing requires you to find support with the people you can trust with your most
confidential self.
My vice versa is that when I learn something, I pass it on to everyone I see.
I share it here with you.
