Sunday's art appreciation document Mark Rothko

Jean Hart Artwork
My movie pick for this Long weekend.
art appreciation.

Mark Rothko.
abstract artist

It's not really a movie, but a art documentary.
I remember when I first saw one of his paintings. It was in an art book. Without knowing the story behind the abstract paintings I thought. How plain. What's the point?
I was an art student and I did not know how to look at art, not really.
Can art change a person, or their perspective of the world?
Can art make you cry?
That's what his art did for many who first saw it.

When I was working on the exhibit
"Elements"
I came across his paintings again.
This time, I felt in the stillness of his work and there was a pull of emotion.
I incorporated a little of his style in my painting .
"A page in History".
Here is a closer look of it.
This was my painting for
AIR
Air painting, My concern is about the Ravens and Crows in my area. They are being poisoned and blamed for the decrease in the Sage Grouse bird population. Of course, there is much more to it then that. You can read more about it here. http://elkodaily.com/news/local/save-sage-grouse-target-ravens-county-hopes-pilot-program-sets/article_e8d4fe28-8df4-11e2-9981-0019bb2963f4.html

Do you ever paint about life issues?
I would love to hear about it, if you do.

My movie pick for today is: The Master of Light-Johannes Vermeer

Jean Hart Artwork
www.zazzle.com/jeanhar1*

It's a cold and rainy day here today. The kind that makes you want to cuddle up to your angora sweater and watch old movies.
I just heard that Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson are making a Zoolander sequel.
I can not wait for that to come out, seriously I have to wait until 2016.
My movie pick for today is:
Art history and appreciation venue.

THE MASTER OF LIGHT - JOHANNES VERMEER - Discovery/History/Art

You can watch it for free on YouTube

Johannes Vermeer is one of my favorite painters.
As a final for my art class I drew in pastel Vermeer's " Women with a Pearl Earring. "
I found it interesting that they said in the movie that he left no records of his life, no notes on his paintings,
 no dairies, nothing.
Just his amazing works of art.
Here is my rendition of The Women with a Pearl Earring.

Jean Hart Artwork Newsletter April 2015

Jean Hart Artwork
Newsletter
April 2015

Today's the day.
I just finished my two samples.
I have painted, sealed, and sent them off with my application.
The two paintings, left and right are part of my new series,
"Let's have a Little Fun"
Wish me luck.
I will let you know what happens later.
As an artist I am always looking for new ways to show my artwork along with selling my artwork.
I have joined many  organizations, contests, and mail art programs.
For me art has been a life line. I would paint each day even if no one saw my work.
I love art. I read about art, I look at art each day, and I paint each day.
I have three books going at all times.
Art history, art biographies, and how to paint books.
I can loose myself wondering around an art supply store for hours.
I love to see whats new. Try something I have not yet done and basically be creative in all areas not just painting.
What's next for Jean Hart Artwork
I started to draw on paper cups. Paper Coffee Cups with lids, which I make bigger so you can use them as banks. I bought a box of cups so I'm still designing banks. New designs will soon be posted.
If your looking for an original, original fine art gift, these are fun.
I glue them to a wooden base for more security.
I have them displayed at the Northeastern Nevada Museum gift store or contact me.
they sell for $15.00
In May at the Elko Library I have a donation for their Just Desserts fundraiser
Read, Learn, Grow, acrylic 9" x 12"

Also, a puzzle  donated for the

In Elko, Nv

What kind of artwork do you have in your home?

Jean Hart Artwork
I invite you to my online store

I remember, acrylic, Jean Hart Artwork

One of the things I like to do when I visit peoples homes is look at the kind of artwork they have hanging. Artwork can say so much about a person and their personality.
I find that people who travel will often have paintings of places they have visited.
People will also have a painting of an artist that they may personally know. It seems to be true that if a family member is an artist they will have one or two paintings of Aunt J J hanging somewhere.
Do you like landscapes, still life, abstracts, or contemporary?
Do you have originals or prints?
Here is a fun test to help you decide what kind of artwork you like.
I took it and found out that I liked traditional, vibrant and tasteful artwork.
I enjoyed the comparison of the artwork, and I felt it was spot on. I am pretty much traditional in everything I do.
What kind of artwork do you like?

The Art of Dealing in Art, The Auction House

The Art of Dealing in Art
The Auction House
Well, just about anything can be auctioned. I donate many of my artworks to organizations who have silent auctions. A Silent Auction is when a piece of art or really anything for sale can be displayed and people silently bid on the items. It's different then a Auction House, where investors will come to a public gathering and start bidding and out bidding each other.
One of the oldest auctions houses is in Stockholm,"Stockholm Auction House in Sweden.
You will usually get a catalog detailing the works to be sold.
Other auction house that are popular are Christie's and Sotheby's.
The atmosphere of the auction is electrifying. With rapid bids being shout out from one bidder to the next, bidding wars bring the prices up quickly, but when the hammer goes down for the final time the art will go to the highest bidder.
Everyone enjoys a good deal on something they want.
I once went to an estate auction. We were given paddles with numbers on them. When you wanted to bid you raised your paddle up. I was so caught up in the excitement I probably paid way too much for this antique doll rocking chair.....but, boy it sure was fun.
I am donatint this painting to the Elko County Library for thier annual "Just Desserts" silent auction.
Sunflower, acrylic, 16" x 20", Jean Hart Artwork

Auguste Renoir

Auguste Renoir
1880-1881

Renoir is one of my favorite artist. If I had a dinner party he would sit to my right.
Auguste Renoir painting, Luncheon of the Boating Party, oil on canvas, 1881
Here is a little of what I know about this painting.
Back then artists painted the people they knew, family and friends.
The story of the Luncheon of the Boating Party by Auguste Renoir is a snapshot of leisure time with his friends taking a lunch break on the banks of the Seine River in France.
The focus of the painting is on the two prominent people nearest the viewer. The young women holding the dog, will nine years later become his wife. She is a recurring subject in many of his paintings. She is a seamstress and depicts domestic life and is often  featured with their children.
The man with the straw hat sitting casually at the right is Gustave Caillebotte, a fellow Impressionist painter.
The painting Luncheon of the Boating Party made its debut in an exhibit in Pairs in 1882.
I love spending time looking at this painting.
Explore the people, who is looking at whom. What is their relationship to one another.
If I had a chance to go back in time, I should like to be a part of this party.
It is such a favorite of mine that I hope to soon have a print hanging in my dinning room.
Be Inspired,
~jean
