Good Morning Winter

Good Morning,

We got a little snow for Christmas and the family came for Christmas Dinner.

Merry Christmas from the Hart Family

We have so much to be Grateful for.

Here we are right where we should be.

2014 was such a good year that I'm a little sorry to see it go. But, of course

 you can not stop time and now I am looking forward to 2015.

What are my plans for 2015?

For one thing...doing more artwork.

I have 3 projects I'm working on, I hope to be able to talk about them soon.

My 5K's will still be going. In fact, my very first one will be in St George for my birthday in Jan.

For Christmas I got the most wonderful walking sticks

 along with  a book about all the hiking trails in Elko County.

Soooo you know hiking reports will soon appear.

My New Years list goes something like this.

less TV and more reading

less clutter more space

less junk food and more real foods

less worries and more smiles

and more deep breathing.

of course theirs more ......

There is no way I can paint a painting each day....so I would not want to set you up to come here looking for a new painting from me everyday. However, I do paint a lot. I want to start offering my original paintings to you here on live auction.

Technical Tuesday

I have been asked by a lot of people if I give art lessons.

My answers is, no. I do not give lessons for many reasons. If you have been folllowing me for awhile, then you know my story. If you are new, then I will tell you quickly. I love art, there is now doubt about that. I came to art late in life and have only taken a few classes myself. I read art books, watch videos, go to workshops. My style and technique is wild and unperdictiable. When I find a new book I do all the exercises in it. I am what the art criqutics call "A Outersider" artist. With no real schooling in art or a degree to teach art, I do not feel I am able to give you the best tools to learn correctly.

What I can offer you though is encouragement, enthusiasium for art and an understanding of triumph and failure. These are exercises that I have done. With every exercise you do you will get use to the names of colors, and instructions and techniques.

I once went to the Northeastern Nevada Museum and painting their giraffe they have there.

It's real and it's tall.

I am thinking of going to the museum again and painting another animal this fall.

Today we are going to draw a giraffe.

1. apply a base layer of dark yellow with yellow ochre fro darker areas. Suggest shadows on and around the with light blue violet. Note the shadow cast by the chin on to the neck. Now use reddish brown for the stem and olive green for the leaves.

2. Apply light umber to further deepen the periwinkle shadows, fill in the spots, and add ridges around the eyes. Brighten the giraffe with mineral orange, filling in more spots and adding more hair along the neck.

3. To finish, fill in the eyes and those bong lashes with black. Use black to darken the nostrils, dark tufts of hair, and other shadows.

Many people have asked me what brought you to art?

It's a question the young talented artist ask or others who would like to know how to break into a difficult and competitive field.

My story is simple.

In the summer of 2001, I injured my back. I had to quit my work as a baker.

During my recovery I took art classes at Great Basin College.

I found that when I painted, I was not in pain. I could paint for hours at a time and time went by easily. Soon, I had developed friends in the art world who shared ideas and techniques with me..

It wasn't  long after that I that I started to show my artwork publicly. I received awards, ribbons and began being asked into art exhibits, not just locally but world wide.

In September, 2009, I started Jean Hart Artwork.

I tell people to join in on art organizations.

In 2011, I became an administrator of the ArtCanyonArtGallery.

This provided me with world artists and chances to exhibit in art shows around the world.

In 2013,  I was excepted into the National Society of Painters in Casein and Acrylic.

This really opened my eyes to painting. The ideas, theories, techniques have been crucial to my development as a painter.

My paintings have been life inspiring. I often say, "If you have had an impression on me, you will probably see yourself in one of my painting".

My paintings were, and still are, my reflection of my physical recovery, which will be a life long physical therapy.

Persistence, really is the key to staying focused in art.

Truly loving what you paint.

Giving it away. Yes, I donate when ever I can.

I think everyone should own at least one original piece of artwork. There is really something magical about sitting with an original painting. One that you can feel and see the brush strokes.

The painting becomes alive and changes with the light. You just don't get that with prints.

I came to art out of a need to heal, I stay with art because I can't imagine a life without expression.

Help with naming a painting

The art exhibit is getting closer and I'm just about done with my 5th painting for the art exhibit "Elements", Water, fire, air, earth, and spirit.
For the life of me I can not think of a title for this painting.
Earth,
So here it is, if s...omeone can come up with a title I like, I will name this painting with your title, give you credit and send you a 11" x 14" print for helping me.
My Title was,
"Earths Treasures"......not so exciting.

As The Crow Fly's

Air painting,

As the show time gets closer and summer activities get busier, I'm getting just a littler nervous about finishing my paintings on time.

I started this Air painting last night and I'm very pleased with the direction it's going in.

My concern is about the Ravens and Crows in my area. They are being poisoned and blamed for the decrease in the Sage Grouse bird population. Of course, there is much more to it then that.

a waning moon

Blue Moon,

 

Lately, or maybe just because it's summer, I feel as though I am waning. Waning with the last of the supermoon. Moving away from the hustle and business I live my life in. I'm pulling back on many activities, but for some reason I'm still busy. I'm sure it's just a cycle, the ebb and flow of energy. Swimming has left me both feeling stronger and exhausted at the same time. In the afternoon I find myself closing the drapes and watching movies.......until it's time to play backgammon.......resting is what I want to do. I imagine this is normal for creative people. Just a little time out. Staying open to the ideas that come at a time of waning.

Anyone else feeling this way?
