Hush....Listen to the winds, she doth blow...

Hush....Listen to the winds, she doth blow...
October's Heart by Jean Hart
Live your life from your heart.
Share from your heart,
And your story will touch and heal people's soul.
_Melody Beattie

There is a season for everything, so they say. Sometimes there is a season to be still, and quite. To be hushed. The Fall is a time to reap the harvest. Bring in the rewards for a job well done. If you keep talking you may miss the splendor of silence, or even a compliment.  You have said enough. You have made your points. Let someone else talk, or better  yet just be still and enjoy what is yours. There is a power to saying nothing.
So, HUSH, Hush, hush.

create, you can, you do

CREATE
CREATE something from nothing, something wonderful, beautiful, something with your hands.
Create a garden big or small, something the butterflies will want to come and visit you in.
Create a song while you are cleaning, or bake a new dish.
So many times I hear people tell me, "I'm not creative", I can't draw or cook, or paint."
I say, you are creative in everything you do, everyday in your live.
I love wearing scarfs, but for the life of me, I tell my daughter every time I wear one, "I can't tie it right!!!" Thankfully, she shows me again, and again, and again. I'm getting better. She creates the folds so gracefully.
You can do it, you all ready do.
CREATE.

Technical Tuesday still life

TECHNICAL TUESDAY

well technically this will not be a "Technical " instruction day.
Mothers Day is coming up and so I have started to paint flowers.
I went to my local craft store and found drawing paper in 5 x 7 pads. I thought wow, this is great, they were already cut for me, in canvas for acrylic, pastel and colored pencil.
I brought out all my colored pencils and started to put together a little still life of flowers.
Today you will be doing the same.
Really think about what kind of flowers YOU LIKE. I find it easier if you like what you are going to draw.
I start with the size and shape of the vase.
pencil in the flower placement.
Pick out a color scheme that is complementary.
I usually work from top to bottom, and with pencil front to back.
Meaning that my background is usually the last thing I draw.
Have fun with this, it's not meant to be hard.
For me this whole painting was imaginary, but if you need to look at something by all means bring out your flower photos.
Have Fun,
Be Inspired,
~Jean

Blue Monday

Blue Monday
The paintings for Blue Monday, are not always blue in color, some are blue in mood or texture,
This little painting of a burned tree in the marshes made me sad, but too it reminded me of this poem.
Enjoy,
~Jean

Trees and Men

The tree that didn't have to fight,
for sun and sky and air and light,
But lived out on the open plain,
and always got its' share of rain,
Never became a forest king,
But lived and died a scrubby thing.

The man who never tasted spoil,
The man who never had to toil,
That never had to win his share
of sun and sky and light and air.
Never became a manly man.
But lived and died where he began.

Good timber does not grow with ease.
The stronger the winds the tougher the trees.
The further the sky, the greater the length,
The more the storms, the more the strength.

By sun and cold and rain and snow.,
In tree or man good timbers grow,
Where the thickest stands the forest growth
We find the patriarchs of both.

Who hold and converse with the stairs,
Whose broken branches show many scars,
of many winds and much of strife,
This is the common law of life,
