Weigh In Day after the vacation

Weigh In Day
August 10, 2014

Started Jan, 2014

Beginning weight 250lbs

Today's 230.8

Total weight lost 19.2

BMI 38.5

cal. intake 1388

need to lose 83lbs

estimate date May 20, 2015

A gain of 1.4 pounds.
Vacation, that's what happened. I had so much fun on my vacation. The family, the food, the wine, the cakes....yes there were cakes.
Something else happened when I got home though. I was kind of depressed, totally unmotivated, and didn't exercise at all or plan healthy meals.
I also did not get on the scale until today, a week after I got home from my vacation!
I just knew I had gained weight so I avoided the scale.
As it turns out there is a real depression that takes hold of you after a vacation.
Turning to YouTube I found this:
Post Vacation Stress
On Friday we went to Twin Falls for my chiropractor appointment and I got great news. I have improved so much that I can now come in every other week for an adjustment and P/T.
I credit losing weight to exercising, planning healthy meals and meditating.
This motivated me to get myself back on track. As you can see I have a lot more weight to lose and a long time to do it.
I got back on track first by drinking more water this week. I did not drink enough water over my vacation. It is the easiest step to take when you're trying to gather yourself back from a gain.
Second, I started adding more vegetables to my meals. Fresh raw vegetables and cooked. Limiting my fruits for now.
3. I brought out my measuring tools.
4. Started to use my Lose It app on my phone.
5. On Monday the exercise will come back.
I still have some mental work to do. I have to get better at looking at food as Risk/Reward. The risk of eating or drinking something, is it worth the depression of a gain, or the happiness of the Reward. It's a battle with each meal. I love to cook. This is one of the meals we made this week end and in the right proportion they can be eaten a stay within my calorie limit.
Bacon wrapped pork with Bourbon Barbecue Sauce 4 oz, harvest peaches 1/2 cup, homemade red mashed potatoes 2 table spoons, green beans with shallots, bacon and walnuts 1/2 cup, and a Cesar salad 1/2 cup.
I can't eat only lettuce and meat. But I can eat this. So if you plan your plans and keep with the measurements you don't have to feel deprived of tasty food.

YES!!! I'm in the 20's baby!!!
As you can see, it goes slow. The last weigh in is the official weight from the Doctors office.
It's the scale that started this journey.
On Mother's Day, my daughter took me for a 5K walk, that's 3.2 miles. I'm in training because I have a 5K walk coming up this Sat. in Pocatella, Id.
Looks like for that length of time I do a 22 min. mile. Not so fast, but, oh so happy to be walking again.
I'm really hoping not to be the last one to the finish line. But if it happens, I have to be happy just to participate. Those who know me, know I'm competitive and this is a hard hit on my ego,
Oh bien!!
Who is on my team for this journey.
It is true I have put together a supportive team to help me with my physical care.
1. Primary Doctor, really you can't do without one. Find one who makes you comfortable because there's just a lot of embarrassing conversations that take place in order for them to help.
2. Chiropractor, I will never live without one. My Wizard, does acupressure.
3. Acupuncturist, since I don't have one where I live, everywhere I travel, I see one.
4. Massage Therapy, This took me along to find one that was right for me. I call her a "Healer", because I believe great spirits work through her hands.
5. Yoga, so much fun, free yourself to just be a beginner.
6. Meditate, it's a must everyday
7. Swim, for me this is the activity that really burns calories.
8. Walk, joining in on walking 5K has really been fun
9.  Phone app "Lose It", extremely helpful
10. Eating only real, whole, healthy foods.
11. Supporters, that's family, friends who are there for you when you just don't want to do this anymore.
I have a long journey ahead of me. Believe me there are days when I just want to stop. But, truthfully, I can not.  So, if it doesn't challenge you it will not change you.
Of course some days are perfect!!! But most are decisions meal by meal.
This week is my daughters Birthday....just after Mother's Day.....Celebrations....
fancy foods......desserts......wine......
This is Life, celebrations never stop so I have prepared.
Here is my menu for the Birthday Dinner
Smoked glazed Chicken
Mashed potatoes, with Ranch Dressing
Green mixed salad
Garlic Bread
No Wine,,,,,probably tea
Dessert
strawberry, kiwii , coconut water pops.
(no really that's what she asked for)
Next way in will be the 29th

The weigh in

In January I had a birthday, and started my transformation. I didn't know I was fat!!!, Someone had to tell me that. So, on January 18th, I decide to lose 100lbs. Funny how I never saw myself as a overweight person. But, now that is all I see.
My weigh in was 250lbs, that should have tipped me off but I was busy recovering from my slipped disc and just happy to be on my feet each morning and able to walk.
So the journey begins. ..........I added to my phone an app called Lose It, which counts my calories, and figures out how many calories I burn with exercises and has challenges each month. My calories change each time my weight changes .
So, I started at 250lbs and today I'm at 239, 11lbs gone.
I exercise each day, just can't get the right calorie count without it. I joined in on yoga, I tread water, and have just added treadmill walking.
I had to buy a new scale although I will not be going on it each week, because when it goes up I'm depressed, when it stays the same I mad. So, I figure if I lower my calories each week and get on the scale about every 2-3 weeks, I should see results. I'm just that emotionally unbalanced that this little scale could ruin my day.
I invited you to join in with me and encourage each other. The next weigh in will be the end on March.
